2 THURSDAY, DEC. 8, 1949 THE TOWN TOPICS Mis. Mary Spiering and Ma thew Theewen drove here from Hillsboro to spend the week end at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joe VanderZanden. Lester Blount had the misfor tune to receive a broken arm while working at the mill Tues day afternoon. A limb that re mained on a log broke and caus ed the injury. He was taken to a Portland hospital. Loe Bond, the brother of Harry D. Bond, Vernonia, returned to Hill Military Academy, Portland Monday for his senior year in high school. Mr. and Mrs. William Car michael are the parents of a daughter bom at St. Vincent’s hospital, Portland, Friday, De cember 2. She weighed six pounds, four ounces and has been .-lamed Carolyn Joyce. He formerly was manager of the Shell Oil distrib uting plant. Word has been received by writer, from Mr. and Mrs. Jess Taylor, past residents of Ver nonia, and of the Jess Taylor -«chestra remembered by those residing in Vernonia in 1945. Mr. and Mrs. Taylor are the parents of a boy named Thomas Alan Taylor, born November 26, 1949 and weighing six pounds, nine ounces. They have been' living at Sublimity for some time. Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Davis EAGLE. VERNONIA, ORE enjoyed a visit from their daugh ter, Mrs. Orin Davis, and her daughter, Mr. and Mrs. John Mc Leod and son Frankie, all ot Yamhill last Sunday. I Albino Deer Reported Seen at Birkenfeld BIRKENFELD — Francis Lar son saw an albino deer Monday of last week, the first of its kind to have been seen around here. Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Garlock and small daughter of Mist visit ed with the Fred Larsons recent ly. Mill Machinery Being Installed MIST — Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Jones were Saturday callers at the Austin Dowling home. Aileen Johnson was home from Forest Grove where she is at- tending college, over the week end. Mrs. Curteman from Delena was a visitor Friday of the Chas. Hansens. The Melvin Saxon’s are back from Roseberg where he went to work. Mrs. Chas. Sundland was in Vernonia a couple of days last week looking after business interests in the Sundland Electric store. The Wikstroms were moving machinery into the new mill last week. They have replaced the roof that the wind tore away. Bernard Dowling returned home Wednesday night from Portland where he spent . several days. While gone he made a trip to Tacoma. Ethel Waddell assisted in the Mathews store Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Mathews were in Portland Tuesday. Mrs. J. O. Libel had a sick spell last week but- is somewhat better the last report. Friend'« Wedding at Scappoose Attended CAMP McGREGOR — Mr. and Mrs. Robert Elton motored to Scappoose Saturday to attend the wedding of his grade school triend, Bill Evert, to Mary Wiggs at the home of Mr. Evert’s par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Cy Evert. Mr. Elton acted as best man for the occasion. A show sponsored by the CIO of Vernonia will be held in the Camp school this Thursday even ing according to plans being made.
