Rona Morris Workman, 123 Main Street Dallas, Oregon Angel Passed By For centuries the Egyptians had held God's Chosen People in slavery. At last God is to show his wrath and send the Angel of Death to slay the first-born in every household. But God would save the Hebrew boys. So it was he commanded the fathers to kill a lamb and put the blood on the door-post. The Death Angel would see the blood and pass over. The fathers be lieved, obeyed and saw their sons saved. Ex. 12th—BIBLE. BLOOD TO SAVE YOU — Be lieve, obey and be saved. Be lieve God’s word that the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses away your sins. See your life-page clean. Receive Christ as your own Saviour. Judgement Dav is out and Eternal life in. Now grow up. Live by Bible and prayer and look to Christ for the new days and ways that prove the new eternal life. S. W. There are 275 wildlife refuges in the U.S. national refuge sys tem. Hiya, folks: I do hope you have not forgotten me entirely. You have all had a nice long rest from seeing my yatty-yat in the paper, but I have not forgotten your friendly greet ings and delightful. To be hon est, I have felt a bit lonely without them. Since, if you do remember, you may have wondered why I drop ped from sight, I may as well confess that I have been “feelin’ sorta porely” this last summer. No, I “ain’t been enjoyin' pore health", for in my estimation there is nothing to enjoy about it—certainly not in mv case. I never have anything the matter with me that gets me any sym pathy, and the on'y thing I got this time was a dratted hormone pill and the medical advice that mental effort, will power and driving myself like a mule would pull me out of the slump. Now is that anything to make anyone enjoy being ill? I’ll bet that if I broke both legs all I would get. besides the cast, would be advice to use the old will-power and I’d be back on the job in three days. You see it was this way: The Big Boss got crowned with a ‘widow-maker’ this spring and for several weeks I wasn’t too sure that he wasn’t headed for a new job in the heavenly forests. However, heaven must have been full-handed with log gers, for he got word that he’d have to wait until there was an opening, since they couldn’t put him on right then. Sometimes I think that having a sick, or injured husband, is like spanking a child; it hurts us a lot worse than it does him. Along with all this came a few dozen other small incidents, such as the oil stove exploding and my having to wash and scrub everything in the house — just little trifles like that. Result: one nervous crackvp. Of course a catty person might say that I was just jealous of all the attention the Big Boss was get ting, and wanted to be in on some of the fun. If this catty remark should be true, let me assurse the speaker that it didn’t do me one bit of good. I didn’t have any busted head to show and. as my sweet sister-in-law put it when shp saw ir;1 letting ♦Hr. You haven’t been hit on the head.” See what I mean? You have got to have something to exhibit if you hope to get any sympathy in this world. Maybe the specialist that fin ally prescribed hormones and willpower may have been right when he said that I probably would not have come such a cropper if I hadn’t been so fond of that big lug the ‘widow maker’ landed on. I think he had something there,- for even though there are times—as evei y wife can well understand—-when "nothing’ but de grace o’Gawd keeps me frum takin’ de carvin knife to him”, I’d hate to lose him. However, my Big Boss is well now, and so am I. so when Mr. Kamholtz (after I had twisted his arm) kindly assured me that he would try to endure having my stuff in his paper again, I decided to throw this in at your door, as a man does his hat after he has been out on a binge, to see if I dare try to come back. Now—ahem! cough, cough—if any of you would like to have me barging in ones a week, my new address Is 123 Main Street, Dallas, Oregon, and a few cards' or letters might give me some assurance of your wel come. I frankly admit that if no letters come I’ll probably throw myself down on my new gray rug and—no, better nut do that. Sait water might make spots on it and the red dog leaves ntore than enough tracks ■?n it as it is. J am a bit helpless in regard to you readers, for I can’t twist your arms as I did Mr. Kamholtz’. Did you know we are building a new house on the Rocking W? Just in case the Big Boss decides to “retire” again one of these days. The fireplace man is working there this week and so is the well-driller. If the fire place smokes and the drill finds nothing but salt water again, I don’t know how v my sweet new hormone-disposition will last. The last well we had drilled cost $400 for nothing but salt water, gas and a hundred-and- twelve foot hole. Not funny, if you ask me.
