Party Celebrates Second Birthday of Twins Let's Be Sociable Lodge Members Select Officers Tuesday Night Odd Fellows lodge officers, who ■will serve for the six month period beginning January 1, were elected at the lodge meeting Tuesday evening. Lloyd Quinn was named Noble Grand and Loren Atkins, Vice Grand. Reelected as secretary and treasurer respectively were Wm. D. Shafer and Louis Schroeder. Installation ceremonies will be conducted early in January. A two-year birthday pdrty for the twin daughters, Deanna and Dianna, of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Ritz took place Thursday after noon, November 10. Games were enjoyed as supervised by their grandmother, Mrs. Nola Brady. Mrs. Ritz was hostess and served a luijch of cake, cookies and jello. Guests were Mrs. Bertha Rosa, their great grandmother; Nona Lankston; LeAie Keith and granddaughter, Barbara; Mrs. Ro bertson and daughters, Patricia- and Glenda, and son, Donny; Mrs. Sylvia DeVaney, their aunt; and cousin Janice; Joan Brady, also an aunt; Opal Counts and two children. Many lovely gifts were received. Favorite Operas, Topic Qf PEO Meeting Tues. WHY RUSH PROTECTION? Members of the Vernonia Chapter of P.E.O. met at the home of Mrs. Ralph Valpiani on Tuesday evening, November 22. Mrs. Valpiani, who had charge of the program, discussed some of her favorite operas, among which was Puccini’s “Aida” a prose drama with the doom mo tive. The story was related to the accompaniment of a recorded album of the principal arias. The members also enjoyed hearing the universally favorite “Torea dor Song” and "Habanera" from Bizet’s “Carmen". The next regular meeting of the Chapter will be held at the home of Mrs. Judd Greenman on December 13, with Mrs. Paul Gordon in charge of the program. THE Extension Club To Meet Dec. 8 The Vernonia Extension club is scheduled to meet Thursday, December 8 at the Legion hall at 10 a.m. and the members are asked to bring a paper sack lunch because a lengthy session is planned on the project of lampshades. TREHARNE — Mr. and Mrs. Loren Dodge spent Thanksgiving in Portland with his aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Ingram. Guests at the Bert Tisdale home for Thanksgiving were Mr. and Mrs. Gus Hall, his mother, Mrs. M. Tisdale, and Charles Thomas and family. Mrs. Orabelle Cabrara from Stockton spent a few days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Walker. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Reynolds and his father, Ben Reynolds, and Forest Reynolds drove to Yakima Friday to visit relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Harve Whitmire and family and Mr. and Mrs. Truman Davenport spent Thanks giving at the Rome Whitmire home. Mr. and Mrs. Grant Dodge were callers at the Bert Tisdale home Monday. The Timber Route Home Ex tension Unit will meet at the Vernonia Grange kitchen Tues day, December 3 with Mrs. Ber- nita Peterson and Mrs. Emma Jensen as project leaders on making lampshades. The meet ing is to start at 10 a.m. and everyone is to bring a sack lunch as this will be quite a long lesson. Everyone interested may come. Also each one should bring material such as plain color firm ly woven cottons; trim for same; a small screwdriver or nail file; three dozen spring-type clothes pins; three yards white, rayon, Ms inch straight tape; and an old lampshade. Also needed are needles, thimble, scissors, pins and thread, size 40 or 60 and 24. Power Return Awaited After Storm Damage MIST — Mr. and Mrs. Walter Mathews and, Marian, were movie visitors Thanksgiving in Clatskanie. M. P. Mills was anxiously awaiting the return of power Sunday morning with 23 cows to milk and no juice to operate the milking machine. Wm. Bridgers was in the vicin ity Monday on business. The ladies of the Christian church are having a bazaar and food sale December 10 at Sund- land’s electric store. The sale will start as soon as the store opens. Mrs. Simon Wynne has recup erated enough now to be out of the Providence hospital in Port land and will remain with her daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon Cook, and family in Vernonia. Mr. and Mrs. Wynne have an apartment and intend to stay in Vernonia for the winter. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Nelson of Rainier, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Bergstrom of Portland and Her man Nelson of Goble were at the Joe Doyle’s for Thanksgiving. Mr .and Mrs. Ross Meeker and Mr. and Mrs. Dave Howard and children spent Thanksgiving with the Harry Howards at Camp. Mr. and Mrs. Eric Petexeon spent the week end in Portland.
