Service Choice
Choice of service in the armored
cavalry, the field artillery, the
corps of engineers, the coast ar­
tillery and the infantry is now
being offered to young 11160 be­
tween 17 and 34 years of age wh
enlist in the U. S. regular army.
Opening of these forces for
direct assignment to men without
prior military service follows the
line already established by the
peacetime regular army, which ad­
vocates the greatest possible mea­
sure of choice to its new enlistees.
In addition to the above direct
assignment opportunities, first­
time enlistees may ind cate their
preference for duty with the
army’s far east command.
High school graduates are also
offered the opportunity of choosing
from a field of over 62 army
technical school courses. These
fields include radar, electricity,
