HEAVY LOADS STOPPED SHERIDAN—The Yamhill coun ty court ordered last week that no heavy loads be hauled over the county’s roads when the current cold spell breaks until the roads have fully settled and recovered from freeze ravages. Condition of the county’s roads has been a point of considerable discussion the past few months. Lack of sufficient funds has cut down much needed repair work to a mere trickle while traffic has increased. SNOW PREVENTS LOGGING SEASIDE — The heavy fall of snow prevented the resumption of logging operations in this area, but crews of fallers and buckers and a few others were working last week falling and cold deck ing. For the most part however, operations were postponed or con ducted on a very small scale. This was the result of the heavy fall of snow last weekend and the icy condition of the highways. Most operators who put crews in the woods made no attempt to haul logs because of the possibility of accidents. COURT STOPS HAULING WILLAMINA — The county court requests that all heavy haul ing over county roads be dis continued until such time as the roads have become thoroughly settled following the lastest freeze. LOAD LIMIT CUT MEDFORD — In view of pos sible damage to county roads when they thaw after the long freeze, the Jackson county court has issued an order which will reduce the load limit by 50 per cent on the roads the county engineer de cides would be damaged by nor mal loads. County Judge J. B. Coleman, in announcing the order, said that County Engineer Paul Rynning would watch the roads, and that the court would specify the roads to be restricted as conditions de velop making it advisable. • Lost radium has been recovered from many novel places including a pig's stomach and a doctor's trouser cuff.
