Virginia Robertson left recently for Cary, Mississippi where she plans to complete her high school work. She will live with a sister while completing her Sophomore year and the remaining two years to follow. S. O. Robertson is now employed as head cook at Camp Olson. He formerly worked at Seaside and at one time was employed as cook at the Palace cafe. Mr. and Mrs. Guy Thomas and daughter were in Corvallis for the past holiday week end. They left here Friday and returned Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Burrow and children came here from Port land for Christmas at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Judd Greenman. James Frazee, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Frazee, arrived here Christmas eve to spend the De cember holidays with his parents. He will leave Saturday to return to Chanute Field, Illinois. Earl Spofford, son of Mr. and Mrs. D. P. Spofford, is expected to arrive here January 9 from An nette, Alaska where he has been stationed with the civil aeronautics administration as radio mainten ance man. Earl and Miss Evelyn Krieger will be married January 11. Also expected home for the wedding is Elsie Spofford who is attending school at Jerome, Idaho. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Schaffer mo tored to Lorain, Ohio to spend a combined honeymoon and Christ mas vacation with Mr. Schaffer’s mother, Mrs. Helen Schaffer. A letter received by Mrs. Art Kirk from them explains they arrived at their destination December 24. The couple plan to be gone a month. Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Noel and baby son of Kellogg Park, Portland are visiting Mrs. Noel’s mother at the HyVan hotel. Their baby son, Ronald Ray, was born November 15, weighing nine pounds. • Property Bought Near Keasey KEASEY —’ J. O. (Doc) De- Vaney and Mrs. Anna Young were saddened last week by the passing of an elder brother Perle DeVaney of Yuma, Arizona. The late Mr. DeVaney spent a summer in Vernonia helping another brother, Roy DeVaney, in the building of what has since become known as the Morrow apartments. Mr. and Mrs. Ronald MacDonald bought the former W. J. Lindsley place on Keasey road. The farm was owned by the Brown-Swain families for the past five years. Herb Counts spent Christmas eve camped out up in the hills of the old East Side country. December 24 Mr. Counts went out to round up some cattle, his horse miss ’d a turn and went down through an abandoned railroad trestle, throw ing the rider. Mr. Counts ran most of six miles home to get tools to extract the horse. Returning the same evening, he found the horse out and safe. Mr. Counts the horse and friends who went to his aid returned from the hills Christ mas day tired but safe. Holiday Activity Includes Reunion CAMP McGREGOR — Mr. and Mrs. Bill Woods motored to Aber deen, Washington to spend the Christmas holiday with Mr. Woods parents. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Johnson spent the week end with Mrs. Amelia Johnson of Clatskanie. Mrs. Stephen Waite, Sr., has moved from Camn McGregor back to her home at Toledo. Mrs. Amelia Johnson of Clats kanie is spending a week with her son, Glenn Johnson, and family.’ Mr. and Mrs. Erick Peterson spent the Christmas week end at Clatskanie with Mrs. Peterson’s parents. Mr. and Mrs. Bud Borton and sons, Ralph and John, motored to Turner to spend the week with their daughter and family. A family reunion was held' at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Shelby Cook Christmas day. Present were, Donna Jean of Goble, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Chapman and children Davey, Dian and Janine of West Linn, Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Cook and daughters, Hazel Faye and Dee Ann and Mrs. Cook’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Simon Wynne. Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Fairly spent their vacation in Portland at their home. Mr. Fairly re turned Sunday evening leaving Mrs. Fairly there for medical at tention.
