Gifts Exchanged at V.F.W. Auxiliary Party LET’S BE SOCIABLE Study Club Christmas Program Held Dec. 16 Mrs. Judd Green man was hostess to members of the Vernonia Study club on Thursday,- December 16. After the business meeting, Mrs. Sam Hearing, Jr., was in charge of the program and her review of the book, “Miracle on 34th Street,” by Valentine Da vise was well given and enjoyed by all. The club held its Christmas party following the regular meet ing and book »eview. The rooms were beautifully dec orated with cedar and red candles and the Christmas tree with gifts piled high at its base was the center of attraction. Carols were sung and then the gifts were dis tributed. Refreshments were served by the hostess. The next meeting will be Jan uary 6, at the home of Mrs. Fred J. Tousley with Mrs. Ralph Val- piani in charge of the program. . • Holiday Program Enjoyed Thursday Pebble Creek Dairy The Neighbors of Woodcraft had a Christmas program con sisting of songs, recitations, read ings and a tableau on Thursday evening, December 19. Quite a large group of Neighbors and friends attended. Gifts were given by Santa to all present and each child received a baloon. Sandwiches, cookies, cof fee, candy and nuts were served in the lunch room. The V. F. W. Auxiliary held its regular meeting in the I.O.O.F. hall December 16. After the meet ing the members exchanged Christmas gifts. President Ada- line Walker presented gifts to Mrs. Mae Shoenbecker, a recent bride and also baby cups were presented three young mothers, Shirley Bauersfeld, Eleanor Chil son, and Gertrude Anderson. A stork shower was given Celeste Poetter and many lovely gifts were received. Refreshments were served. On December 1 the Auxiliary initiated two new members. They were Alice Gwin and Elna Hack ney . • Employees of Firm Entertained Saturday The employees of the Vernonia Auto company wer» entertained at a Christmas party Saturday night by Mr. and Mrs. Ed Salmonson and Mr. and Mrs. James Davies. Twenty-six people including the children were present for the affair. • Scouts Honor Master At Holiday Party The members of the Vernonia Boy Scout troen honored their Scoutmaster, Ed Frazee at a holi day season party held the latter part of last week at the Frazee home. New pal names were drawn for the coming year. The business meet ing was short. We are meeting next time the fourth Thursday in January at the home of Mrs. Chas. Hansen. The C. L. Waddell folks were in Clatskanie Saturday. Oscar Jones was a visitor at the Ben Smith home in Vernonia one day last week. Mrs. Forrest LaBeck was over from Clatskanie Thursday to at tend the meeting of the M.H.C. at the Garlock home. Mrs. Carl Enneberg was a vil lage trader one day last week. J. H. Howry, the highway boss, is on his vacation at this time, the strawboss, Ernest Kyser, tak ing over until Mr. Howry gets back on the job. Mrs. Rodger Quirin was in Clats kanie Saturday.
