Unit held its meeting at the Grange kitchen Tuesday, Decem ber 14. Eighteen members were present. Mrs. Florence Kirkbride gave an interesting demonstration on Christmas decorations and wrappings. Pot-hick dinner was served at noon with Mrs. Zella Davenport and Mrs. Florence Dodge as hostesses. The members voted to send a box of gifts to the patients of the state hospital. These gifts are to be left Avith Mrs. Kirkbride who will attend to the sending of the box. The next meeting will be held January 11, 1949 at the Grange kitchen, the subject being meat cookery. Mrs. Laura Thacker and Mrs. Pauline Tisdale are project leaders for this meeting while Mrs. Flor ence Kirkbride and Mrs. Walter Cox will be hostesses. KEEP SIGHT! of your eyes! Birthday Club Group Entertained Thursday TREHARNE - Mrs. Florence Kirkbride was hostess for the Birthday club last Thursday, the occasion being her birthday. The usual pot-luck dinner was served at noon and each reported a pleasant day. Those attending were: Mrs. Kirkbride, Sr., Mrs. Laura Thacker, Mrs. Mae Wie- necke, Mrs. Florence Dodge, Mrs. Pauline Tisdale, Mrs. Floy Odam, and Judy, Mrs. - Dorothy Odam and Billy, Mrs. Zella Davenport and the hostess, Mrs. Florence Kirkbride. Mrs. Beck Thompson was taken to Portland early Saturday morn ing with a ruptured appendix. She is doing ouite well and will be home shortly. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Wienecke from Hilsboro were Monday visi tors at the Carl Wienecke home. Mrs. Earl Wienecke is able to be out again after a bad fall frac turing several ribs a few weeks ago. Albert Reynold’s brothers, War ren and Jay D., who have been visiting at his home the past few days, have left for their home in Arkansas. Mrs. Hazel Fletcher, who has been in the hospital at Castle Rock, is better and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rome Whitmire have returned home. They brought the baby home with them to stay this week. A number of friends and rel atives attended the birthday sup per given at the home of Mrs. Al bert Tisdale in honor of her 82nd birthday. She received many nice gifts. Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. Ben Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Richards, Mr. and Mrs. Loren Dodge, Mrs. Gus Hall from Seattle Kenneth Thomas, Mrs. Edna Heen an, and the host and hostess Mr. and Mrs. Albert Tisdale. Mr. and Mrs. Peterson of the Ver nonia Bakery presented her with a lovely birthday cake. Mrs. Emma LaDean from No’ Dakota, who has been visiting her father, Chas. Thomas, for the past few weeks is visiting in Port land with Mr. LaDean’s sister this week before returing east after Christmas. Mrs. Prunty expects to remain in Ore gon to visit until after Christmas. Mr. and Mrs. B. W. Borton mo tored to Amity to ,yisit his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. J. F- Borton, Sunday. Brother Royal Borton and wife of Salem were also there for the day. The highway near Forest Grove was surrounded by water although not in the highway at that time. Buildings a"d drive ways were in the water on the lowlands. Mr. and Mrs. Eric Peterson motored to Portland last Friday to visit Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Morterson, Mrs'. Peterson’s sister. They also visited Mr. and Mrs. Carl Peterson, brother of Eric, and also a resident of Portland. The Petersons came back to their home in Camp McGregor Sunday evening. Tom 0. Hulstine was a Vernonia visitor Saturday, walking the dis tance from Vernonia to Camp Mc Gregor Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lund mo tored . to Portland to visit their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. L.
