' 1911 Edward Ollilah of Clatskanie, step-father of Wayne Hill of Ver­ nonia and Toivo Hill, who recently left with his family for Rock, Michigan, left Wednesday, the 28th for an airplane trip from Astoria to Helsinki, Finland. He will visit friends and relatives there and in other parts of that nation. The plane ride was to take only 36 hours, Mr. Ollilah plans to make a three-months visit before returning to Clats­ kanie. He is a graduate of Vernonia high school and a former school teacher at Beaver­ ton and is now employed in gov­ ernment work. Mr. and Mrs. Atley Chapman left here Sunday and will event­ ually locate at Duluth, Minnesota where he is to be employed as forester in charge of the tree farms belonging to Kimberly and Clark. Handling of Cut Flowers Learned KEASEY — Mona Fox and Iva Gillham of the Keasey extension unit, attended a project leaders training meeting held at Natal Grange hall, April 29, where Mary Beth Minden, late of Idaho, gave lessons in the correct handl- ing and arranging of cut flowers and the use of ordinary woods plants in decoration. Mr. and Mrs. John Brown and family have moved onto the former J. W. Lindsley place near Keasey. Mr. and Mrs. Duke Lloyd and daughters spent the week end visiting friends in and near Forest Grove. Irving Conklin, Saanan goat rancher, and Iva Gillham, secre­ tary of the Nehalem Valley Goat Milk Producers association, attend­ ed a special meeting called by the Oregon Dairy Goat Breeders association in Portland Tuesday evening, April 29. Main speaker at the meeting was a Mr. Wright of Seattle who was working out plans for forming the northwest area into a goatmilk shed to supply Seattle with enough milk to set up a full time milk canning plant to assure users necessary milk the year around. • More than 300,000,000 pounds of fish and shellfish are landed an­ nually at East Coast ports from Rhode Island to Virginia. Reunion of Family At Independence Is Attended Recently Joy Theatre Vernonia, RIVERVIEW — Mrs. W. J. Lindsley attended a reunion at Independence recently. She saw several of her cousins whom she hadn’t seen since she was a little girl. Four of her sisters were present. Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Lloyd and Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Jenkins and family recently visited relatives in Portland and also their sister in Scappoose. Mr. and Mrs. Biddle and their new baby recently visited at the E. L. Lloyd home. The new baby was born here but was taken to a hospital later. Johnny Wilcoxen is back on a cable ship and expects to be in Alaska for a while.
