Homer Bentley’s missus was working on her new sewing ma chine, when Homer comes in, draws up a chair, and starts talking: "Don’t you think you’re running too fast?” he says. "Slow down! Watch out! Be careful! ” When the missus finally turns with murder in her eyes, Homer says goodnaturedly: “I thought you might like a little help, dear— like you help me drive the car.” The missus can't help but burst out laughing—and they settle what might have been a quarrel over a friendly glass of beer. The missus agrees to give up back-seat driving and nagging Homer about ashes on the rug. Homer agrees to quit cri ticizing Sarah's taste for flowery hats and parsley salad. From where I sit, the key to get ting on together is meeting every issue half way—and overlooking any petty differences in tastes— whether these tastes apply to beer or flowery-looking hats! 1 •w ■’ if ■5 X. \ Copvrieht, 1918, United Stales Brewers Foundation Ease the Burden of Ironing with a MAYTAG IRONER FASTER EASIER BETTER Ask us for further information Sundland Electric & Appliance 786 Bridge Street Vernonia FURNITURE THE HOME ON E-Z TERMS AT PORT- TELEPHONE 592 BREAKFAST SETS We have a variety from which to choose.
