NOTICE TO DOG OWNERS
Every person owning or keeping
any dog over the age of eight (8)
months within the state of Oregon
shall, not later than March 1 of
each year or within 30 days after
he becomes owner or keeper of
such dog, procure from the county
clerk of the county in which he
resides, a license for such dog
by paying to the county clerk a
license fee of one dollar ($1.00)
for a male or a spayed bitch and
three dollars ($3.00) for a female
dog.
Any person who shall fail to
procure said license within the
times as herein provided shall be
required, upon procuring such li­
cense, to pay an additional sum of
one dollar ($1.00) for each dog
after March 1.

desirable, and showing the effect
of spraying for weed control. A
brief talk was given also by the
new 4-H agent, Mr. Dahl.
Members were present from all
Granges except from Winema.

Columbia County Pomona Grange
met at Yankton Grange hall Sat­
urday, February 7th for the reg­
ularly quarterly meeting, Canaan
Grange entertaining. Among the
guests of the day were Charles
Wicklander, state Grange Deputy,
and Mrs. Wicklander of the state
grange juvenile committee.
Much interest is being shown
in the National Grange contest for
community service and all the
Granges are urged to compete.
Among projects suggested are
parks, highway safety, community
clean-up
activities, school or
church projects, health projects in­
cluding hospitals, rural recreation
or any other activity which may
serve the respective communities.
Two Granges, Marshland and War­
ren have already enlisted in the
contest. The National
Grand
Prize will be a $12,000 Grange
hall.
A resolution was adopted recom­
mending a special 3-mill tax
for the improvement of roads in
the county.
A seed and plant exchange under
the sponsorship of the Pomona
home economics committee was
held during the day and a home
economics conference was held
with ideas exchanged. Mrs. Wick­
lander met with those interested
in juvenile Grange work.
An event of the Lecturer’s pro­
gram in the evening was the pre­
sentation of Silver Star Certif­
