LET’S BE SOCIABLE Mist Home Scene Of Gathering Three Taken Into Membership of O.E.S. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Condit en tertained a group of relatives in their home at Mist Tuesday even ing. Honored guests were Mr. and Mrs. George Carter. Other guests included Mr. and Mrs. Kyle Clark of Hillsboro, Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Condit of Westport and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Mathews of Mist. The evening was spent in visit- ing and playing games. After a delicious lunch of sandwiches, waldorf salad, cake, ice cream and coffee Mr. and Mrs. Carter were presented with some wedding gifts. At the regular meeting of Ne- halem Chapter No. 153, Order of the Eastern Star, on January 20, Dorothy and Herbert Taylor were initiated into the Order. On Feb- ruary 4, Dr. R. D. Eby was also initiated, his wife being escorted with him as a courtesy candidate. After each meeting the members and visitors adjourned to the din ing room where delicious refresh ments were served from beautiful decorated tables. On February 11, Edna Throne, Grand Conductress of the Grand Chapter of Oregon made her of- ficial visit to Nehalem Chapter. The evening started with a pot luck supper at 6:30, followed by a school of instructions. The of ficers exemplified the work and were advised of any changes that had been made. Mrs. Throne was presented with a lovely cor sage of yellow rosebuds from the Chapter and with a pair of pillow cases from the Worthy Matron, Clara ■ Kirk. A very interesting evening was enjoyed by the of- ficers and members. Two Grand Officers Visit Pythian Sisters The Pythian Sisters entertained the Grand Chief of Oregon, Quin- tella DeSpain of Pendleton and the Grand Senior of Oregon, Alma Friday of Forest Grove at the Wednesday, February 11 meeting. The Grand Chief was here on her official visit to the Vernonia Temple. A dinner was served at 6:30 followed by the regular meet ing and the initiation of three new Sisters, Eva Poynter, Alice Buckner and Edith McFarland. Most Excellent Chief Ethel Lan ders presided. Light refreshments were served afterward, at which time secret pals exchanged gifts and valen tines. The tables were decorated in keeping with Valentines day. • Sunday School Party Enjoyed DON’T BE TOO SURE! The Asembly of God Sunday school enjoyed a party Monday evening in the church basement, Parents of the children attend- ing gathered at the parsonage during the evening. A large group of children attended. Refresh ments were served and a very pleasant time marked the occasion. Sisterhood to Meet Next Tuesday The Assembly of God Mission ary Council met at the home of Mrs. Anna Partridge Wednesday of last week,-the 11th, to help her celebrate her birthday and to sew for overseas relief. Two boxes of articles were completed for shipment. Mrs. Partridge received a num ber of gifts and birthday cards and two birthday cakes. A pot luck luncheon was enjoyed by Nan Johnson, Florence Akers, Agnes Barker and Lyle, Etta Wells, Dorothea Burr, Virginia Robertson, Minnie Ratkie, Mr. and Mrs. Gail McIlroy, Nola Brady, Dorothy Dougall, Viola Eckland and Billy and Jimmy and the honored guest, Mrs. Partridge. The P.E.O. Sisterhood will meet next week on Tuesday, February 24, at the home of Mrs. R. D. Eby at 8 p.m. At the last meeting held at the home of Mrs. Grace Roberson, the Sisterhood was hon ored with a visit by Oveta Barnes, vice-president of the Sisterhood for the state of Oregon. Miss Condit Weds At Reno Feb. 1 Miss Delilah Condit was mar ried in Reno, Nevada Sunday afternoon, February 1, to George Carter of Susanville, California. Mr. E.H. Condit gave his daugh ter in marriage. She wore a white wool suit. Mrs. E. H. Condit was matron of honor and a brother of the groom was best man. A reception was given in the church following the ceremony. Relatives of the bride who at tended the ceremony were Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Condit of Westport, Mrs. Ida Condit of Mist, Mr. and Mrs. Veldon Parker of Susanville, California, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Burke and Genevra Baken of Car- son City, Nevada. Mr. and Mrs. Carter will make their home in Susanville, Calif ornia where Mr. Carter is em ployed. Altar Society Plans To Make Afghan The Altar Society of St. Mary parish held its February meeting at the home of Mrs. Elizabeth Mullins Wednesday afternoon. Plans were laid for the crochet ing of an afghan. Mrs. E. Steen was a welcomed visitor. The March meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Alois Sauer. A dainty lunch was served by the •hostess. Mrs. Ralph Hanson and Warren Aldrich received the prizes for pinochle. and refill again with motor to one with P-E-P Hostess to Club Keasey Unit Meets to Finish Footstools The home of Isola Morris hum med with activity last Wednesday, February 11, when the Keasey unit of the home extension service met to finish the footstools that had been started at the previous meeting. Maude Casswell, home demonstration agent, was on hand to help and advise on some of the difficult spots, By 4 p.m., some very handsome, professional looking foptstools were ready to be taken home to grace the living rooms of Rock Creek.
