LET’S BE SOCIABLE Wedding Anniversaries Honored at Church Fri. Wedding Rites Read At Mist Church Mr. and Mrs. Allen H. Landers were honored on their 25th wed ding anniversary at a social even ing at the Evangelical U. B. church last Friday, the 23rd. Mem bers of the church congregation were prepent. The 15th anniver sary, occuring Sunday, the 25th, of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Laramore was also honored. Mr. and Mrs. Landers were pre sented with a silver tray and Mr. and Mrs. Laramore with two pieces of Heisey ware. Coffee and cake' were served as refreshments. Suggestions for your lunch SOUP (SEVERAL KINDS), SPAGHETTI AND BAKED BEANS The Cozy MIST—A very pretty wedding took place last Sunday when La- Vern Martha Hansen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Hansen of Mist and Mr. Theadore J. Kulju of Portland were joined in wed lock at the little church here at 1:30 o’clock. A reception followed at the home of the bride’s parents. The young couple will probably make their home in Portland after a short honeymoon trip. • Birthday Party Celebrates Event Deanna Osborn had six of her school mates to help her celebrate her seventh birthday with a party Monday after school. The party was given by her grandmother, Mrs. Otto Bittner. Cake, jello and ice cream were served. Vivian Counts helped with the serving. Those attending the party were: Regis Stevens, Kent Battrich, Dane Brady, Mary Lloyd, Jackie Lloyd, Evelyn Lloyd and the honor guest, Deanna Osborn. Many nice gifts were received. Free Gift Double Ring Ceremony Read at DeHart Home • A lovely service was solemnized Sunday afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. L. DeHart when their daughter, Dorothy, was uni ted in marriage to Mr. Merle Ro land, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Roland of Scottsbluff, Nebraska. The bride was given in marriage by her father and wore a brown suit with matching accessories. She carried a single orchid on her white Bible with white ribbon streamers and bouvardia. Her attendant was Mrs. Jack Berger- son who wore a soft gray suit with a lovely gardenia and rosebud cor sage. Dale Roland, cousin of the groom acted* as best man. Rev. Allen H. Backer of the Evangelical United Brethren church officiated at the double-ring service. Mr. Charles Ratkie played the wedding march. A reception was held following the ceremony with Mrs. Bill Olinger, Mrs. Leon Savage and Mrs. T. L. DeHart assisting. There were 30 relatives and friends pre sent, out-of-town guests being Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Riggins and two sons from Eugene. The couple left for California where they will visit with Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Meyer, who are at Watsonville and will then go on to Nebraska. • Birthday Surprise, Anniversary Honored A large number of friends and neighbors gave Mr. Sidney Malm- stcri a birthday surprise party and wedding anniversary party com bined on January 1. Bridgers home Saturday evening to give them a farwell as they will soon go to Vernonia to live. A lovely electric quilt was presented to them by the community with all good wishes for a happy and well earned rest in the years ahead. Most delicious refreshments were served of coffee, sandwiches, cake and jello. A most enjoyable even ing was spent by all who attended. There will be a program and pie social at the Mist gym on Fri day night of this week. The teachers are giving the program and the club, M.H.C., is furnish ing the pies, cakes and coffee. The proceeds will go to the March of Dimes. So come down and help a . grand cause. You know too there are some mighty fine pie bakers in our community. We’ll be seeing you at the gym. What could have been a most serious accident happened Sunday as Lew Choate and their two small children in the pick-up. The door came open as they were rounding a curve and Mrs. Choate was thrown to the pavement. How ever, she escaped with some scratches and bruises op her face and body.
