SOME PEOPLE THINK OF A BANK ONLY AS
A PLACE TO DEPOSIT MONEY OR TO NEGO
TIATE A LOAN WHEN IN NEED OF EXTRA
FUNDS . . . BUT HAVE YOU EVER STOPPED
TO THINK WHAT WE WOULD DO IF THERE
WERE NO BANKS? INSTEAD OF BEING
ABLE TO DEPOSIT OUR FUNDS IN A SAFE
PLACE AND TO WRITE CHECKS FOR OUR
BILLS, WE WOULD HAVE TO CARRY CASH
OR HIDE IT SOME PLACE.
IF WE WOULD NEED TO BORROW MONEY
WE WOULD HAVE TO FIND SOME INDIVID
UAL WILLING TO MAKE THE LOAN.
WE COULD NOT BUY DRAFTS, TRAVELERS
CHEQUES, OR MERCHANDISE ON THE IN
STALLMENT PLAN, ETC.
