Olivia Brickel reported the com munity chest drive was progress ing. An amount of $370.40 had been soliciated through the house- to-house canvass. After the business discussion Russia in the News” was pre sented by Mrs. Brickel, bringing to the club members current events from the big four con ference and reports from radio news commentators as well as articles of interest from news papers and magazines. During roll call, many unusual customs and characteristics per taining to the Russian people were brought to light. • After a pleasant evening, the hostess served delicious refresh ments. Phone: Plumber, 5713, Nehalem Chapter Holds Initiation, Elects Nehalem Chapter, O.E.S., met Wednesday evening of last week with initiatory degrees given for Mrs. James Currie, Mrs. Sam Hearing, Sr., and E. P. Brous end the election of officers. Re- suits of the election were: Worthy Matron, Clara Kirk: Worthy Pat- len, John Kirk; Associate Matron, Ethel Titus; Associate Patron, Ray Mills; Conductress, Dorothy Sandon; Associate Conductress Katherine Johns; Secretary, Flo rence Messing; Treasurer, Edna Linn. Out of town visitors were Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Jones and Mrs. A. Dow of Gresham and Mrs. Ray Nelson and Mrs. Ruth Thompson of Cottage Grove. A beautiful floral degree with an arm boquet of red rose buds and gifts was given the Worthy Matron, Mrs. Paul Gordon for her birthday. All those having birth days in October, November and December were escorted and pre sented with favors. A delicious supper was served in the social hall from tables decorated with poinsettias and tapors. The next meeting, December 17 will be installation ceremonies open to members and friends at, 8:30 p.m. Mrs. Killingberg Hostess To Mt. Heart Rebekah Social club was held at the home of Geneva Kill ingberg, with Florence Messing rnd Jean McDonald assisting. Twenty-five members were pre sent. It was the annual Christmas party of the club and gifts were exchanged among the members. Plans wre discussed for Rebekah dance to be given cember 20 at the I. 0. 0. F. as, also were plans for the nual children’s Christmas party given by both subordinate lodges. This will be held December 16. Under new business, new of ficers were elected for the com ing year. Those selected were: Zoe Whitsell, president; Silvia Turner, vice-president; Alice Buck- ner, secretary, and Faye Davis Treasurer. Delicious refreshments of straw i berry ice cream, cake and coffee were served to those present.
