Oregon law as it relates to Public Welfare aggregates an im pressive total. Undoubtedly the recent legislation will have effect on relatives, how severe, may de pend on what would come out of a suit, and it s°ems quite possible that there will be suits. The leg islation is being quoted to the re latives of new applicants and is called to the' attention of the children of persons receiving the grants, for the protection of all concerned. Section 126-107 “The husband, wife, father, mother, son, or the daughter who is financially able to provide for the maintenance of applicant or recipient of public assistance shall be liable for the care and support of such appli cant or recipient. If at any time the state public welfare depart ment or the county public welfare department ascertains that any one Fable for the support of one who has received or in receiving public assistance is able to pro vide the necessary care and sup port of such recipient and such person so liable for the care and support of such recipient has failed or refused to support and carp for such recipient, then there shall exist a cause of suit or action in favor of the county public welfare commission paying such assistance against the person or persons liable therefor, which said suit or action shall be brought in the name of such county public wel fare commission by the district attorney of such county against such person or persons so liable for the recovery of the amount of grants, with interest thereon, paid to such recipient, together with the costs and disbursements of such suit or action. Wikstrom and Jim Hill were Vernonia visitors Sat urday morning. The Mills family on the old Camberg farm are purchasing a tractor from Shelmon Libel. A man working at the Quirin Mill on the Bum was hit by a falling tree last week and injured badly. The ambulance took him to a Portland hospital.
