On Sun­ day his two sisters and families Mr. and Mrs. Joe Safranek of Portland and Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Weverka and daughter, Sally, and son, Bobbie, of Hillsboro came up and spent the day. Nichols, who is suffering from muscular arthritis, returned from the Emanuel hos­ pital, Portland, Wednesday of last week, but is confined to her home. Mr. and Mrs. F. P. McCabe, former residents here, left last week for New York for an ex­ tended visit. While there Mrs. McCabe will meet her sister who is coming from Oslo, Norway to make her home in the United States. Mr. and Mrs. McCabe Mr. and Mrs. John Glaasner former Vernonia residents, write from Sweet Home, where they are now living, that they moved there from Albany so that John could be closer to his work. They also mention that they enjoy their old home town paper and can keep up on what their friends are do­ ing, even if they don't see them. Mr. and Mrs. Glassner wish every­ one a happy Thanksgiving. Harry Junken will close his welding shop December 15, he said Tuesday, so that he and his family may leave for Santa Mon­ ica, California where they will spend Christmas with relatives. A most delicious dinner was served at noon after which the business meet­ ing opened. Ways and means were discussed for the program held Saturday night. Election of officers for the ensuing year was carried out. We retain the same another year: Mrs. Charles Sund- land, President; Mrs. Walter Ma­ thews, vice-president; Mrs. Robert Mathews, secretary and treasurer. The meeting closed with “God Bless America”. We meet the second Thursday in December with Mrs. Walter Mathews and it will be the pal birthday dinner. All members should attend.
