G. Nibler, county agent. For orchardists with quite a few trees the use of a complete cover spray consisting of 2H pounds of arsenate to 100 gallons of water is recommended plus a spreading material. This spray should be ap plied now and again at the peak- of the fly emergence which is in about two weeks. A dust of 10 per cent lead arse nate and 90 per cent dusting sul phur is also effective for those de siring to use dust. Dusts should be applied now and again in about two weeks. In event of rain, dust ing must be repeated after each rain. Low Premium Rates The place of farm forestry and cutover land in the Oregon agri cultural industry is the subject of the sixth in a series of seperate reports on Oregon agriculture to be published by the division of agriculture at Oregon State Col lege. It is one part of a general study of postwar agriculture in Oregon made by a committee of the instructional faculty, exper iment station and the extension service staffs. Farm woodlands comprise one ninth of the state’s forest area and more than 19 percent of the farm acreage, the bulletin points out. In the past, relatively little atten tion had been given to cropping this farm timber as a source of steady income. In western Oregon alone there are now more than two million acres of recent cutover and non restocked deforested areas on which taxes are not paid, the re port adds.
