IN MEMORY
In memory of our Son and Grand
son.
Staff Sgt. Glen A. Hall
Who died in service of his country
March 30, 1945
By machine gun fire.
Two years ago today
Our loved one passed away
On an Island so far, far away.
I have a constant reminder
his picture sits on a stand
dressed in his uniform
looking so brave and grand.
Often I gaze on it
until tears from my eyes do fall
then I turn to the one
that hangs on the wall.
This one I talk to
he seems to smile down on me
I seem to hear him say
“Grandmother don’t weep for me
For lam resting at
Jesus feet you see”
Glen son you were a good boy
clean pure and fine
often I have asked myself
why you had to go
and leave us all behind
If I could have my way
I would hav^ his body
brought back to America.
And I am sure, Son
if you could say
“it would be take me back
to the U.S.A.
There bury me
In my own home town
their let me repose
until the trumpet
of the Lord shall sound
awakening the nations
under ground.
Then our loved ones
will ascend on high
to meet Kind Jesus
in the sky.
Glen Son! we hope to meet you
on that golden shore
where heart ache
and parting is felt
and feared no more.

No one knows the heart ache
Only those that have lost can tell
The sorrow we bear in silence
For our boy, we loved so well.
It was a sad day
When our loved one went away
Yet we hoped and prayed
That he would return home some
day.
Three years came and went
Three years, for us
Of dread fear and suspense
Then the terrible message came
Which pierced our heart
And drove us most insane.
Yet we hoped and prayed
There had been a mistake made
Then the Chaplian’s letter came
And we knew we had hoped in
vain.
The wall of our memory
Is surrounded with a veil of crape
Which remains there
Every minute we are awake.
Glen our darling boy
Was in the Infantry
He patroled the Island of Australia
And New Guiena too
Of weary and foot sore
He patroled the East Indies too.
You can put a stop to that "disappearing act” of your
concrete floors by a simple treatment with Standard Floor
Hardener. Cuts de-composition called "dusting,” cuts cost
of maintaining and cleaning. A second coating assures a
wear-saving, non-slippery ton. Use Standard laquid Wax
on hardwood and linoleum floors... gives high lustre pro
tection without slipperiness.
From the Indies his company
Was called to go
to the Island of the Philinos
They landed on the Island of
Mindanao
And there our boy is sleeping now.
