Bill. Attempting to clear up some misunderstand ings, the Veterans Administration explained that the law enacted by Congress last August setting ceilings of $200 and $175 on com bined wages and subsistence apply only to trainees under G.I. Bill provisions. Public Law 16 (the Vocational Rehabilitation Act) provides training for veterans who, because of service-incurred disabilities, need asistance in restoring em ployability. While subsistence pay ments are the. same as those al lowed veterans training under the G.I. Bill, a guaranteed income of subsistence plus compensation is made. Single veterans are assured $105 per month. Married veter ans receive $115 plus additional allowances for each child. Ad ditional compensation or earnings are not limited, the VA added. At the end of February, 6659 Northwest veterans were receive- ing training under the Vocational Rehabilitation Act. QUESTION OF THE WEEK Q. To The Editor: One of the most abused words in the English, or any other, language, and which instead, should be revered by all people seeking government under true democracy is the seemingly detestable word politics. The true meaning of the word is “Science of Government.” As interpreted by the general public in these days of strife and turmoil graft and greed and intimately associ ated with the proponent of polit ical action thus profaning the cause of good government and up holding corruption in power. Mil lionaires are made through “polit ical” power, but not through its application as applied in the "Science of Government.” The Citizens Political Action Committee of Northwest Oregon denounces and is cambatting the actions of the official, under the guise of politics, in seeking and acquiring wealth and power through the office to which he has been elected. This organiza tion, promotes the :)lea of better government, men in office who will fight for the rights of his constituents and the good of the country he represents. Thus through the name of our organiza tion we symbolize, our member ship as Citizens heralding the Science of Government, and when we say* government we mean true democracy. The Action part of the name signifies that we are not going to lay down and let the big shots drink the cream while we lap up the dregs. Fred E. First, go back to the day when God’s Chosen People were slaves in Egypt. God told them to kill a lamb and put the blood on the doorpost. This they did, on every house and when the angel of death passed thru the land that night, he saw the blood and spared them. Not one of God’s people died. So for us here and now.
