Attending were Mr. and Mrs. L. P. Mathews, Mrs. Albin Wright and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Mathews and Bobby. Wm. Bridgers was a Seaside visitor Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. L. P. Wikstrom were Portland visitors Tuesday. Shady Lane was ¿p from Sea side Sunday shaking hands with old friends. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Howry spent Sunday in Seaside with her parents. Visitors at the John Libel home during the week were Mr. and Mrs. Lyle McCauley from Astoria, Mr. and Mrs. Orville Johns from Seaside and Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Libel from Fairview. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Roeser and Mr. and Mrs. L. P. Wikstrom attended the wedding of their brother, Norvin, in Vancouver Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Ain Wallace were here last week from Seaside visiting old friends. The Wallaces owned a farm here for a great number of years. While here they visited the J. 0. Libels, Wm. Bridgers, Hansens and Knowles. „Sheldon Libel recently sold the Salmi Brothers a new tractor and took it to Marshland. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Foster from Marshland visited her father, H. Jepson, Sunday. A. R. Melis was busy the fine days of last week sowing grain. Billy Kyser helped him. On a line now crossing the United States from Florida to Michigan the pointing of the’ compass coincides cxactlj- with the true north direction. However, in 1800 the line of no compass passed between Washington and Baltimore. Letter Tells Air Rescue Details A recent letter received here by Mrs. C. H. Lamping from her husband, 1st Lt. C. H. Lamping, tells the story of the rescue of the crew of a plane downed in Northern Greenland late last month. Lt. Lamping is stationed at Ladd Field, Alaska with the 46th Recon. Sqdn. and partici pated in a flight from that field to the scene of the rescue. The rescue flight was started February 23 and took over 20 hours. The actual pick-up of the crew of the wrecked plane was made by an ATC plane from Thule, Greenland about 200 air ; Did You Know We have 6x8x10 concrete foundation blocks for sale?
