y Mt. Heart Rebekahs Meet February 13 t The regular meeting of Mt. Heart Rebekah Lodge No. 243 ■was held February 13 at the I.O.O.F. hall with Norma Callister Noble Grand, presiding. The reg ular order of business was /dis posed of under “Good of the Order.” Marvin and Jean Turner enter tained the members with two songs which were very well re ceived. The refreshment tables were beautifully decorated in Val entine motifs and a delicious luncheon was served by the lunch committee composed of Miss Le nora Kizer, Mrs. Leone Miller, Mr3.. Maude Ramsey and Mrs. Irma Chance. There were 56 members present and a large number received cards and gifts from their birthday friends. On February 8, the following members visited the Hillsboro COMMUNITY STORE I . D A N C E I • Grange Ladies to Meet February 27 Miss Virginia Redner, daughter of Mrs. O. M. Davis of Yamhill and G. A. Redner of Gaston, be came the bride of John F. Mc Leod, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert McLeod of Gaston on February 12 at the home of the Rev. Clif ford N. Trout in Hillsboro. The simple, double ring cere mony was witnessed by members of the immediate families. A dove gray suit w(ith black and white accessories and a cor sage of white gardenias was worn by the bride. Mrs. McLeod, who is the grand daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Davis of Vernonia, was graduated from Vernonia high school in 1942 and attended Northwestern School of Commerce in Portland. Mr. McLeod was with the army’s first division for five years and re ceived his discharge in August of 1945. The young couple will be at home in Yamhill. Another meeting of the in- ■ structor class being sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary is scheduled for this evening, Thurs day, at the Legion hall at 7:30, Mrs. Blanche King said Wednes day morn’ng. This evening's meeting will be devoted to the making of games and Mrs. Maud Casswell, county horn» demonstra tion agent, will be present with materials needed and people at tending are urged to bring such materials also. Instructors present last Thurs day were assigned a game to con duct as part of their instruction. Mrs. Wilma Borton was in charge of a pre-party game; Rev. Ernest Baker, a game requiring each person to know the first and last names of the persons to his or her right and left; Mrs". Baker, an action game; Mrs. Frances Russell, two singing games and Mrs. Blanche King, relay game. Mrs. Casswell filled in with oth er games and also had a magic clock, the secret of which she re vealed to tha people present. This special meeting was the district’s annual convention and was held for the convenience of the assembly president, Marion Wilson, who could be present only on that day. The degree was conferred on three candidates. On February 19, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Willard, Mr. and Mrs. Har vey Crume, Silvia Turner and Zoe Whitsell motored to Seaside where they witnessed the conferring of the degree on 13 candidates at their annual convention. Marion Wilson, assembly president, was present as well as other grand lodge officers. Marion Steers entertained the Friendship club with a Val entine party at the home of her mother, Mrs. Carmichael, Febru ary 20. A delicious turkey lunch eon was served at 1 o’clock fol lowed by the initiation of the club’s new member, Mrs. Car michael. A Valentine party fol lowed with presentation of Val entines to each one from a beau tifully decorated Valentine box. The party, was entertained by a few numbers by Mrs. George Millis at the piano and Mrs. Louis Carmichael at the guitar. Mem bers attending were Mrs. T. M. Box 322A, Hillsboro Woman’s Relief Corps Plans Activity HAIR-STYLING Brotherhood Dinner Held at Church A Brotherhood dinner was held last Wednesday evening at the Christian Church, at which time an offering amounting to more thaif $100 was received. The offering will be used for relief of the hungry in Europe. Sixty- nine were present. A program was given following the dinner with short talks by Martha Wells, Le la Harris, Mro. Louise George, and M. L. Herrin. • Society’s February Meeting Is Held • Mrs. Nichols Hostess For Study Club Mrs. J. W. Nichols was hostes3 for the meeting the Vernonia Study club when it met Thurs day, February 20. For roll call, members gave superstiti on3 from American mythology preceding the program on mythology. Tales from the mythology of several lands were read by Mrs. Marvin Kamholz who also gave a brief background of folk-lore in general.
