Altar Society Plans January Meeting St. Mary’s Altar Society will meet again on January 15 at 1:30 p.m. Members will go to the Andrew Elstad home on the Rock Creek road for the meeting. Mrs. Harve Crume Is Club Hostess Mrs. Harve Crume entertained the Friendship club with a Christ mas party held at her home on C street, December 19. A delicious luncheon was served at 1:00 o’clock. PHONE 342 A SAFE PLACE TO TRADE Large Group Enjoys Installation of Eastern Star Officers Dec. 18 Jean Ryan, Walter Workman Wed at Church Rites Saturday A large group of friends and members of Nehalem Chapter No. 153, O.E.S., enjoyed the lovely installation and program for the 1947 officers, Wednesday evening, December 18. Presiding officers were. W. M., Inez Powell; W.P., Leslie Skuzie; Marshall, Lottie Swanson, and Warden, Marie Hawkins. Installing officers were: W.M., Alberta Mills; W.P., Ray Mills; A.M., Eurma Hartwick; A.P., Glen Hawkins; Chaplain, Allie Dickson; Marshal, Inez Powell; Organist, Mary Aronsen; Warden, Marie Hawkins; flowers and gifts, Mar jorie Reynolds and Bert Girod. Officers installed for 1947 were: W.M., Mona Gordon; W.P., Paul Gordon; A.M., Clara Kirk; A.P., John Kirk; Secretary, Florence Messing; Treasurer, Edna Linn; Conductress, Dorothy Sandon; Chaplain, Lottie Swanson; Mar shal, Frances Mullins; Organist, Bess Nichol; Adah, Evelyn Holce; Ruth, Faith Reynolds; Esther, Al- vida Hearing; Martha, Katherine Johns; Electa, Vicki Nanson; War den, Celia Laird; Sentinel, Walter Kent During the installation of the worthy matron the lovely solo “The Lord’s Prayer” was sung by Alvida Hearing accompanied by Mary Aronsen, making it very impressive. Two pretty addendas were given. One was the 1947 officers presenting the new worthy matron beautiful red rose buds and a lovely solo sung by Mrs. Hearing. For the other, the 1946 officers gave a short resume of the activ ities of the chapter for the year and the presentation of a gift to Inez Powell and Leslie Skuzie re tiring worthy matron and worthy patron. Dorothy Ann Hogberg sang “The End of a Perfect Day” as the closing of the regree. Then the officers surprised Inez Powell with a dishtowel shower for her wedding anniversary the 21st of December. Marie Hawkins presented the past matron’s jewel to Mrs. Pow ell and Glen Hawkins presented the part patron’s jewel to Les lie Skuzie. Refreshments were served from beautifully decorated tables and the dining hall was decorated in the Christmas motif. The First Christian church was the scene Saturday evening, De cember 28, at 8:30 of the wed ding of Jean Ryan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur W. Ryan and Walter M. Workman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter O. Work man. The impressive double ring cere mony was read by Rev. Ernest P. Baker before an altar of white candles. The bride, given by her father, wore a gown of white slipper sat in and tulle; her finger-tip veil of tulle fell from a juliet cap of seed pearls and orange leaf lace. The bouquet was of pale yellow roses and bouvardia with cascading streamers of white satin and bou vardia. Mrs. M. P. Sanderson, matron of honor, wore a silver and blue brocade gown and carried pink roses. The bridesmaids were Tam Moran, Virginia Robertson, Alice Russell and Jacqueline Coon, sor- ority sisters of the bride, Two of the attendants wore blue and carried yellow roses; two wore pink and carried pink roses. On December 12 Mr. Heart Re bekah Lodge had the largest at tendance of the year to welcome the following new iqembers: Alma Bond, Alice Buckner, Jean McDonald, Marie Hawkins, Doro thy Ann Hogberg, Lotus Killian, O. S. Poynter Arthur Killingberg and Marvin Turner. After closing, the annual Christmas party was held and refreshments served. II Mrs. Elizabeth Brown, Mrs. Tom Crawford, Mrs. Bert Bassett and grandchildren, Pete and Penny, Mrs. Louis Boeck, Mrs. Marion Steers, Mrs. Blanche Miller and daughter Mary, Mrs. Charlie Biggs and children Sally and Johnny, Mrs. John Biggs and Mrs. Ralph Mahar.
