5000-acre Unit
Of Camp Offered
The first unit of Camp Adair,
comprising approximately 5,000
acres, is offered for sale by the
federal farm mortgage corpor
ation through the facilities of the
Federal Land Bank of Spokane,
R.E. Brown, president, announced
last week.
Located 10 miles north of Cor
vallis, the 5,000 acres is part of
the 50,000-acre project assigned
to the corporation for disposal.
Additional blocks will be offered
for sale during coming months.
The 5,000 acres in the inital block
are divided into approximately 50
farm units.
The land will be sold subject
to the /oilowing priorities: Gov
ernment agencies, state and local
governments,
former owners,
former tenant-operators, veterans,
owner-operators and non-profit
institutions. The general public,
as non-priority holders, also may
submit bids during the 90-day

Advance information indicates
that trappers will receive less this
year for pelt3 of fur-bearing an
imals. Muskrats are reported to
be off 20 to 30 percent, mink 30
percent, and marten 25 percent.
Animals with long fur such as
coyotes, bobcats, raccoon and
skunks will be very hard to sell
as most warehouses already are
loaded with them and about the
only dealers who will be in the
market for such pelts will be
those with available storage fa-
cilities. It is realized that elec
tion years frequently affect the
fur market and it is possible that
with the election over there will
be more activity on the exchanges.
