Just slip out your back door into the front door of Dess-y’s, Dessy’s Tavern t Pay, Insurance Leading Topics Terminal lehve pay, government life insurance and education and job training are the three GI benefits uppermost in the minds of Oregon’s World War II veter ans, judging from interviews with more than 3325 ex-servicemen at the department of veterans’ affars at the state fair the first week of September. In charge of the booth was Don Goode1, chief service officer, who said 750 veterans were given terminal leave pay blanks. Of this number, 300 blanks were no tarized free of charge, represent ing pay claims amounting to more than $45,000, or an average of $150 per claim. Questions regarding reinstate ment, conversion, and premiums on national service life insurance were asked by 320 veterans, and assistance was given in reinstate- ing lapsed policies worth more than $250,000. More than 400 veterans re ceived literature and information dealing with educational benefits and apprentice training. Records indicated 'nearly 175 individuals had questions about disability pen sions and benefits, 80 wanted to know about loans for homes, farms and businesses, and 50 asked about employment.
