LETS BE SOCIABLE Mrs. George Miller Hostess for Club Altar Society Members Hold Wednesday Meet RIVERVIEW—Due to urgent apepals for their help and to the opening of school less than the usual number of the Friendship Club were able to attend the Sep­ tember meeting Thursday. The hostess was Mrs. George Miller and a chicken dinner was enjoyed by all. Those present were Marvel Chalmers, Blanch Millie, Nan RIVERVIEW — A busy after­ noon was spent at comfort knot- tink Wednesday at the Harry Bor- gelt home by St. Mary’s Altar Society. The group also held their regu­ lar monthly meeting at this time and disposed of some other knotty problems. Among other decisions the date for their sale of hand­ made articles was set for Novem­ ber 9. Members present were Mrs. Sauer, Mrs. Mullins, Mrs. Schmed­ ding, Mrs. Wirtz, Mrs. Smejkal and Mrs. Borgelt. The next meeting will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic church, October 16, when the main activ­ ity will be price tagging articles. It is requested that all working on this project, have their com­ pleted articles there. A delicious lunch of angelfood, frosted yellow cake, doughnuts and coffee was served by Mrs. Borgelt A welcome visitor and helper at this meeting was Mrs. Alfred Hahmeyer of the O-A district. R. Frank and Mrs. H. H. Frank as hostesses. Mr. and Mrs. Murvel Frank were married September 8 at Enid, Oklahoma. Entertainment during the eve­ ning included several vocal solos by Mrs. Amelio Colontoni and piano and violin duets by Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Newberry of Sa­ lem, all cousins of the groom. Mrs. Colontoni is known on the operatic stage as Dorothy Sigler. About 50 people were present for the reception. The Past Presidents club of the American Legion Auxiliary was hostess at a reception and shower honoring Mr. and Mrs. George E. King, who were married August 31 at Vancouver, Washington. The affair was enjoyed at the Legion hall club room. Mrs. King is the new unit secretary and he is the new past adjutant of the Legion. Many lovely gifts were re­ ceived, among the nicest being an electric mixer presented by em­ ployes of the West Oregon Elec­ tric Cooperative. Guests present for the event included Mr. and Mrs. J. W. The bride wore a gray dress­ makers suit with ar, orchid shoul­ der corsage and her only attend­ ant was her sister, Miss Carol Sword. Bruce Dyer, brother of the groom was best man. The wedding was followed by a reception at the Sword home. Mr. and Mrs. Dyer are away on a wedding trip but will be at home in a few days at the Austin apartments.
