here last Saturday to spend a
week visiting at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Bob Spencer. They have
also been visiting at Victoria
and Vancouver, B. C., Seattle and
Vancouver,

Duggins is a brother of Mrs.
First Lt. Harry Culbertson has

way to Ft. Lews to be discharged
from the air corps. Douglas has
been in Munich, Germany, for
the past several months. He was
teletype operator in the air corps.
Dean Lionberger, former Ver­
nonia high school student, spent
several days last week end here
visiting friends. His home is near
Gresham now.
Here from Eugene last week
end for a short visit with relatives
were Mr. and Mrs. Joe McNutt.
He is attending the University of
Oregon.

the hospital Sunday.

James Anliker ranch near Go­

ble. Mr. Smith still has cattle

Day Honored at Dinner
RIVERVIEW—Mrs. Claud (Gib­
son entertained with a dinner in
honor of her husband's natal
day, September 19. Their guests
were Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Gibson
of Vernon».
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Dikson of
Portland spent last Sunday with
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Moore.
Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Breeden of
San Diego left for home Monday
after spending the week at the
parental Louis Huntley home here.
It has been a year since Mrs.
Breeden had seen any of the home
folks so when Jeff received notice
of a ten-day leave, they headed
for Riverview. They accompanied
Mr. Huntley and Albert to Port­
land Saturday.
The Lloyd Calister home was
sprayed with white paint Satur­
day and both of our filling sta­
tions have received coats of paint
in recent days.
Lawrence Robbins, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Olin Robbins, returned
Friday from Seattle where he had
been employed during the summer
and will take up his studies at
the Washington school this week.
Mrs. B. J. Brown of Ridgefield,
Washington, spent the week end
with her sister, Mrs. Joe ePachey.
Mrs. Chas. Ratkie, Waldon Rat-
kie and Joanne Keck attended a
splendidly arranged birthday par­
ty held in aVncouver, Washington,
September 7 to honor Mrs. Rat-
kie’s granddaughter, Sydney Ann
Malmsten, whose third anniver­
sary fell on September 9.
For
a table centerpiece, Mrs. Malm­
sten had arranged a circus tent
shpplemented with animal crack­
ers. Near by was a ,fish pond
and each guest drew a fish line
to gain his favor. Sydney received
many beautiful gifts and respond­
ed with a mature thank you for
each. Others attending this party
were Sydney’s parental grand-
mother, Mrs. Sydney Malmsten of
MIST—-Sunday dinner guests at
the Chas. Hanson home were Mr.
and Mrs. Clifford Nelson, Mrs.
E. Nelson, Mr. and Mrs. Tom
Ford and Priscilla Hansen all
from Portland, and also Mr. and
Mrs. Clifford Salmi and daugh­
ter, Janet, from Marshland and
Clyde Johnson of Mist.
“Shady” Lane was up from Sea­
side last Sunday looking up old
friends.
Bernard Dowling worked at the
electrical business under the di-
rection of Chas. Sundland on the
Walter Mathews residence last
week and this.

the autumn foliage presents these
fall days!
Since the rain the
pickers have started again to
pick evergreens.
Mr. and Mrs. Noble Dunlap
were in the village shopping one
evening last week.
