INJURIES CRIPPLE LOGGERS;
TILLAMOOK ON SAT. SHED
The bad luck bugaboo has been
the unseen enemy of the Loggers
since fall practice started a few
weeks ago and ds still right at
home with the squad. The situa
tion doesn’t look too good for this
Saturday night when Tillamood
comes up from the coast to give
the local boys their first compe
tition because four probable first
string starters are out with breaks
and sickneHs.
Alvin Tapp, one of Coach Her
gert’s best linemen is favoring a
fractured arm, the result of prac
tice and Lynn Michener will also
be on the bench with a broken el
bow.
x
In the backfield Duke Byers will
very likely be a missing figure
because of an injured shoulder
and a severe cold which has kept
him home for several days.
Bob Sunnell is also out of the
running temporarily with a gun
shot wound in his arm.
With all this tough luck Her
gert’s boys are certainly bearing
down in practice with the idea of
pounding out a win Saturday
night if that achievement is at all
possible.
It was a little early yesterday
for the coach to name his starters
but he did announce a probable
lineup to meet the Cheesemakers
with the understanding that there
might be a surprise change at the
last minute. His probable lineup
is: ends—Don Parker, and Don
Cline; tackles—Gordon Cline and
John Carmichael; guards—Kay
Miller and Don Tiffney; center
—Kenneth Anderson; right half—-
Jack Frank; quarterback—Owen
East; fullback—Dick Renfro and
left half—Tick Bass.
Hostilities open at the park
football field under lights at 8
p.m. with Paul Gordon and Glen
Hawkins as officials.
