Finding no one home at the
end of their journey out from
Portland to visit Mr. and Mrs.
Aubrey Sharp, A£r. and Mrs. R.
D. Sharp spent Sunday of last
week at the George Clark home
in W. Riverview. The Aubrey
Sharps were spending the day
at Seaside.
Mr. Olin Robbins returned
Thursday from a month’s visit to
Seattle and Portland. In Seattle
she had visited with her daugh­
ter and son-un-law, Mr. and Mrs.
C. R. Jones and her son, Law­
rence, and in Portland she was

RIVERVIEW—Mr. and Mrs. El­
bert Owens drove to Bandon
Thursday to spend the week-end
with friends and to bring more
of their belongings to their new
home on First street.
Mrs. Nettie Adams and son,
Thurman, of St. Helens drove over
Sunday afternoon for a visit with
their old neighbors, Mr. and Mrs.
Riley Hall. The Adams’ were for­
mer residents having erected the
L. L. Wells residence some fif­
teen years ago.
Mr. and Mrs. L. Huntley and
children jdined Nate Huntley of
Carlton and George, Tom and Jim
Williamson of Hillsboro at Sunset
Sunday and all journeyed to Ne­
halem to visit the Waer family
who are putting up an auto
court. A boatride to Wheeler
was enjoyed by all but fishing
was poor.
Portland goers for the week
were Mr. and Mrs. Aubrey Sharp
and daughter, Willistine, who
spent Tuesday and Wednesday at
the R. E. Griffin homie, Glen
Hawkins was there Monday, the
Claude Gibson family on Satur­
day, Mrs. J. W. Nichols on Fri­
day and Lorraine Mahar spent a
long week end in the city.
Mrs. Wesley Pace was guest of
honor at an afternoon party ar­
ranged by Mrs. Earnest Steen
and Mrs. Oscar W. Steele held
at Mrs. Steele’s home September
7. Embroidery and conversation
were the main diversions of the
group but just before refresh­
ments were served a clothesline
bearing many pink and blue gifts
was brought in and presented to
Mrs. Pace.
Couple Back to
Riverview Home
RIVERVIEW — Mr. and Mrs.
Albert
Schtnidlin,
Sr., had
a gladsome surprise Labor
day when their daughter, Mrs.
Oscar Sorlee arrived from Port­
land accompanied by her husband
who had been discharged at Ft.
Lewis a few days before. Os­
car spent 25 months in the serv­
ice, 20 of which were spent over­
seas. Mrs. Sorlee completed her
work at Lipman-Wolfs last week
and the couple will be at the
Schmidlin home for a time.
Pvt. Clovis Coble, who is sta­
tioned at Ft. Lewis, visited over
the week-end with his aunt, Mrs.
Lowell Thombrugh and family.
Mr. and Mrs. A. N. Davis
and grandson, Allen Davis of Van­
couver, Washington, spent the
week-end at the Hillyer home
here.
Mr. and Mrs. George Bell spent
Sunday with their daughter, Mrs.
George Wood and family at
Camp 8.
Mr. and Mrs. Obie Atchison
and children of Portland who
spent the week at the home of
her sister, Mrs. E. L. Lloyd
moved Monday to thelir new home
in Scappoose.
Lloyd Worley arrived home Sun­
day from the George Johnson
farm near Cornelius where he
had spent the summer wiseing up
on agricultural ideas. He entered
the V.H.S. Monday morning.
Miss Dorothy Huntley spent
Sunday at the Banks rodeo.
Mr. and Mrs. William Jacobs
and daughter, Joanne, of Clat­
skanie were guests Sunday at the
Riley Hall home. They report
that their daughter, Viola, has re­
turned to her job having nearly
recovered from burns sustained
a few weeks ago.
