Weed, for a two-weeks’ visit, after which she will return to Pasadena, Califor­ nia, to complete her secretarial course at Sawyer business college. Mr. and Mr«. F. Shaver and three sons of Lebanon were visit­ ors at the home of Mrs. A. E. Jennings Tuesday of last week. They are old time friends and former Vernonia neighbors of Mrs. Jennings. Frank Smith of Morristown, Minnesota, who were here to visit friends ahd to at­ tend the wedding of their daugh­ ter, Nellie, and Bernard Lamping, Sunday, left Tuesday on the re­ turn trip to their home. At Los Angeles they wane present for a reunion which brought together Mr. Frazee's mother, hie five brothers and sis­ ter for the first time in 22 years. Mrs. R. E. Archibald, mother of Mrs. John Kirk, who has been convalescing in a Portland hos­ pital for the last three weeks, is improving. New trucks and car« have been distributed within recent weeks by the Vernonia Auto company to: Bert Woods, Bert Brunsman, Bill French, Bill Horn, W. P. Hess and his wife will return to Salt Lake City Sept 22 where he will re­ sume his duties in a headquarters office at Camp Kearns, Utah. Mr. and Mr«. Joe Vanderzand.n will leave Sunday night for Da­ vid City, Nebraska, to spend a month with her parents and rela­ tives. They will also celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary. Sgt. Leo Landers arrived her. Saturday on terminal leave to visit his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Landers. He expects his discharge from the service in October. Ralph Moeser and Jam«« Thomp­ son are new employes of the Vernonia Auto company. They be­ gan work the third of this month. The company is now employing 10 men.
