Jeby from Sandy spent from Sun­
day to Tuesday here with her
mother, Mrs. Frank McCabe, and
family.
Mrs. D. W. Baysinger and new
baby daughter, Joyce Kay, re­
turned home over the week end
from Pendleton where Mrs. Bay­
singer had spent the last five
weeks with her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. H. Pierce.

at Seaside. Also there to visit
with them were Mr. and Mrs. K.
A. McNeil, former owners of a
drug store here. Mr. and Mrs.
McNeil were enjoying their vaca-
tion at that time.

Heat exhaustion for Eric Arm­
strong was the result last Sunday
morning while he was picking
berries in the Coon creek area.
He was returned to his home by
the Bush ambulance.
Mr. and Mrs. David Brunsman
and son and Mr. and Mrs.
O'Rourk arrived here early this
week from San Francisco, Mr.
and Mrs. Brunsman will make
Vernonia their home and he will
be employed at the Brunsmajo
store. They have purchased the
home on Corey hill formerly
owned by Dr. and Mrs. H. E.
Schlegel. He is now on terminal
leave from the army air corps
in which he was a captain.

The baby was born
July 17, , and weighed 7 pounds 6
ounces.

sen, has received his discharge
from the service and is at home
now.
He spent the la^J. six
months in Texts at Ft. Sam Hous­
ton where he was with the 4th
army headquarters.
Mr. and Mrs. Hal Fowler and
children, Mrs. Maeva Peters and
children, Andy Brimmer, Mr. and
Mrs. Gordon Deal and children of
Aloha, spent last Sunday at the
Orville Makinster home.
Mr«. Charle« Allen and two
sons left for Raymond, Wash­
ington, Saturday for two weeks
vacation with her parents.

Hartwick, Mr. and Mrs. Ed.

Seattle where they will spend a
week visiting Mrs. Carl Brown,
another daughter of Mrs. Lasch-
inger.
Gordon Downs of the mer­
chant marine spent two days here
early this week at the home of
his mother, Mrs. Grace Simmons,
before reporting again for duty.

itt spent from Monday of last
week until Sunday at Sunset
beach. Also at that beach for
several days were Mr. and Mrs.
Louis Laramore who, on their re­
turn, stopped last Thursday night
to visit Mr. and Mrs. Lester
Mowe at Svenson.

hospital Sunday where she was
prepared for an operation to be
performed the next day. Friends
hope for her speedy recovery.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Wood of
Vancouver spent Sunday at the
parental Herman Wood home and
called at the Olof Jacobson home.
Paul has secured employment with
a telephone concern operating
out of Portland.
Mrs. Lewis Kono and daughter,
Janice, and Mrs. Herman Wood
and son, Bertie, were Portland
goers Sunday.
Laurel Wittwer of Stockton,
Calif., wrote his mother, Mrs.
Olof Jacobson, this week that he
had sold his service station at
that place and had purchased a
truck and was on his own now.
Laurel sold his Vancouver proper­
ty two weeks ago.
Riverview teen-agers who are
attending the Silver Creek Youth’s
Camp with their classmates and
instructors of the First Christian
church, Vernonia this week are
Janice Kono and Gerald Millis.
Betty Huntley returned home
Saturday from Nehalem where
she had helped her cousin, Esther
Waer, in a move from Milwaukie
to the coast where she will make
her home.
Louis Huntley returned to his
work at the mill Monday.

Here from Wichita, Kanaas. to
visit at the Ray Harvey home are
Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Cheney, Mrs.
Harvey’s parents, and Mr. and
Mrs. Albert Offenstien. Mrs. Of-
fenstien is a sister of Mrs. Har­
vey. The two visitors arrived Sat­
urday night and the Cheneys plan
to remain two or three weeks
while the latter family intends to
establish a home in the west.
