Wood, was home for a week to visit his mother before leaving last Friday for Memphis, Tenn., to get his dis­ charge from service. He will have completed 10 years in the navy, 18 months of that time being spent on war duty in the. Pacific. He plans to return here the first of the coming month. Ray Mills, who is attending summer school at the University of Oregon at Eugene, was home last week end. He is taking courses in public school building, basic school organization and au­ diovisual education. His classes will end about one and ane-half weeks from now. Tom Gosa, former employ of the ' Inman-Poulson Lumber com­ pany who worked here before 1929, was a visitor here late last week. He is residing now at To­ ledo. Mr., and Mrs. G. L. Smith from Long Beach, California, will spend two weeks here visiting the H. A. Thackers. They arrived a week ago Sunday. Mrs. Smith is the former Betty Thacker. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Shipman and sons, Bill and Pete, and Mrs. Mossman spent the 4th of July at Aloha where they visited Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Niles. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Robertson are the parents of a boy, Donald Ray, born early last Saturday morning at the Forest Grove hos­ pital. He was here over the week end. Mr. and Mrs. Willard Garlock and Mrs. Bern Bliss visited Sun- day, with their parents, the Ray and W. M. Garlocks. The guests live near Tillamook. Mrs. John Rosa, mother of Bud Borton, is recovering satis­ factorily from a recent serious operation which she underwent three weeks ago Tuesday at the Good Samaritan hospital. M*rs. Nettie Alley, anistant nurse officer in the U. S. public health service, arrived here Mon­ day to spend about three weeks visiting friends in this part of the state. She is stationed at Cheyenne, Wyoming, and is act­ ing as tuberculosis nursing con­ sultant for that state, Miss Alley was formerly county nurse for Columbia countq and has many friends in this area.
