80th Birthday Event
Celebrated by Family
Reunion March 30
Mrs. Kate McDonald celebrat­
ed her 80th birthday March 30
with a reunion of her family and
friends. All the children were
present with the exception of two
and all the grandchildren were
present with the exception of
four; Charles McDonald, who is
still in England with the service;
and Francis, Nellie and Allen Mc­
Graw, daughters and son of Tillie
McGraw.
The group gathered in the din­
ing room of the Christian churcn
and had a delicious dinner which
featured two beautiful birthday
cakes. The young lady received
many beautiful gifts, two of
which will long be remembered
by her as she received her first
orchid and wrist watch.
The families present in their
order are: Walter McDonald and
family, Eugene; E. A. McDonald
and family, Yoncolla; George Mc­
Donald and family, Gales Creek;
Bessie Bell and family, Klamath
Falls; Frank McGraw and three
daughters, Idaho; Florence Mes­
sing and daughter, Vernonia; Lila
McDonald and daughter, Eugene.
Grandchildren present were
Celeste Poetter, Lois McDonald,
Ronald McDonald, Bobbie and
Delmer McDonald, Hugh, Dick
and Dan McDonald, Katie Lam-
son. Dora McGraw, Alice Powers,
Jack, Ralph, June, JoAnn, Dor­
othy, Linn and Lyle McDonald,
Rodney and Ramon Bell, and
Jean McDonald.
One great
grandchild present was Francis
McDonald.
Others
attending
were: Mr. and Mrs. E. A. M:ul-
ton, Grandma Rogers and Lee,
Charles Roswurm, Mrs. J. A. Ros.
wurm, Mrs. Oswald, Emil Mes­
sing, Chas. Poetter, Ruby Mc­

The Nehalem Assembly, Order
of Rainbow for Girls, was hon­
ored Monday evening of last week
when 40 Rainbow girls from the
Mespah Assembly, of St. Helens
were their guests, accompanied
by Genevieve Lund, their worthy
adviser, and Mrs. Martha Cal­
houn, mother adviser. The girls
witnessed the initiation of Jean
PeasnaT and a majority degree
fcr Lillian Hedman. Ths attend­
ance was 116.
Each girl from the Nehalem
Assembly escorted the corres­
ponding officer of the Mespah
Assembly to the dining hall where
refreshments of sandwiches,
ccokies, cocoa, and coffee were
served. Entertainment was pro­
vided by Shirley Bennett and
Aileen Jrhnson who sang “I’m
Always Chasing Rainbows,” SteHa
Bellingham accompanying at the
piano. Also a piano solo was
played by Maxine Hartwick. The
tables were decorated in spring
colors and daffrdils as the center
piece.

When Miss Lorraine Mahar
arrived in Portland last week
to resume her duties at the Car­
nation Milk Co. plant she learned
that the company had been con­
solidated and that she was ex­
pected to take up an entirely new
line of work. She resigned and
will be at her home here to as­
sist in the care of her mother who
is in delicate health.
Mrs. Everett Woods was taken
to the Portland General hospital
on Friday to be treated for pneu­
monia.
It was reported lafer
that she had double pneumonia
and was very ill.
Mr. Benjamin Miller and son,

went to Cutler City to visit

They returned Sunday and re­
port a very nice vacation wit!,

and snow storm which made trav­
