Roper Expects Navy Release MIST—Mrs. Robert Mathews was in Forest Grove one day last week. Mr and Mrs. Earl Roper went to Vernonia Saturday to meet Mr. Roper’s brother, Howard, who came up from Astoria for the week end. H ward expects to be released from naval duties in abort three weeks. He’s seen mudi action and has many dec orations, including the Purple Heart. Mr. and Mrs. Austin Dowling were shopping in Vernonia Sat urday. The Tavern has opened with a first class cock, serving meals and soft drinks. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Sundland were up from Seaside Sunday Sunday dinner guests at the George Jones home were Mr. and Mrs. Lee Haberman from Buxton and Mr. and Mrs. A. Buckley from Wheeler. L. V. Wickstrom and son, Sonney, and son in-law, Joe Ros ser, are doing seme logging on the Wickstrom place. The Claud Kyser family were in Vernon a shopping Saturday. Mr and Mrs. Fred Busch were Vernonia shoppers Saturday. Bernard Dowling spent from Friday until Sifnday evening vis iting relatives in Sherwcod, Sweet Home and Eugene. Sonney Wickstrom arrived home from a two weeks’ visit in California, Saturday. The C. L. Waddell family was in Hillsboro Saturday. Shady Lane was a village vis- itor from Seaside one day last week. He called on the Dunlap family. RIVERVIEW—Again our most important pastime includes prop erty transferring and the new owners are getting settled as rap idly as possible. On Thursday, Mr* and Mrs. L. H. McGee, who purchased Wayne’s Inn, came to assist Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Baker, former owners and to get inside informa tion cn management. The Mg- Gees at one time had a stock ranch in the Jewel-Elsie area but more recently have had a berry acreage in the Schells vicinity. Their household goods will arrive this week from their former home in Hillsboro. The Bakers left Saturday fcr Longview, Wash., their former home. A. J. Huguer.in was in his new heme on Fourth St* Tuesday mor..ing awaiting the arrival of his household goods to come in that 'day. He purchased his prop erty of H. E. Palmer of Port land. Mr. Huguenin is a veteran of World War II and just re turned from Japan where he says conditions are terrible. In W.
