Jack, Clintin, Delmer, Elmer and Herbert, all of Portland, . were served dinner, a goodly share of which was furnished by the vis itors. Other diners at the meal were Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Tyler, also of Portland. A fishing trip was the pastime for the group in the afternoon. THE EAGLE, VERNONIA, ORE. TOPICS OF THE TOWN Visitors • at the M. Gründen home Sunday were Mrs. Maude Space, Mrs. Mona Lindley and her daughter, Janet, and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Lindley. Bob, who has been with the armed forces in Europe, is on furlough and will return to duty soon. Mr», Dave Marshall returned to her home this week after spending a week in a Portland hospital where she received treat ment. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas DeCew and son, Mark, arrived last week from San Francisco. DeCew, who has been recently discharged from the navy, has begun work formerly engaged in before the war, that of accountant in the state department. Mrs. DeCew and Mark will remain here at the C. F. Hieber horfie until they find living quarters in or near Salem. Mr. and Mr». Jewett A. Bush, Sr. of Clatskanie were here Mon day. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Davis of Clatskanie and 1 Mr. and Mrs. Francis Davis of Salem were week end guests i at the Davis home. Walter Moore went to Portland Mon. and returned with an old friend of the family, Wm. Carty, who will ma)te his home with the Mr. and Mr». B. B. Mrs. Davis is Mrs. Shipman’s sister; Mrs. Downs, her niece. Parcells Smith, resident, spent several days here last week as a guest at the home of the George Johnsons.
