Car Smashed in
Accident Sat.
MIST — A serious accident oc
curred Sat. night on the turn
this side of the Holce place about
a mile frem Mist. A coupe with
3 occupants, a .girl and 2 boys
from Vernonia returning from
the Birkenfeld dance, collided
with a truck driven by Delmar
Jones. The coupe was consider
able damage and 2 of the oc
cupants were injured, the girl
being cut by glass. The driver of
the truck also received injuries.
Wilson Tyler passed away at
Newport Sat. from a brain tu
mor. The villager:: will remem
ber the Tylers and Ruddimans
who lived heije several years ago.
Henry Ruddiman Jr. has been
crippled for the past 10 years
due to T. B. of the bone. He
may. have to have a leg ampu
tated. We are very sorry to hear
of these misfortunes and our
sympathy goes to the Tyler fam
ily in the passing of Wilson.
Chet Alexander was down
from Vernonia Fri. visiting the
Irving Kncwles folks. — Lincoln
Peterson was in the village Mon.
Austin Dowling was in Seaside
Wed for the hiway dept. — The
children of Ernest Kyser are on
the sick list at this writing. Were
you affected when the earth
quake came? It rattled dishes,
swayed the stove, set the lights
swinging and shortly after the
pipes on the hot water tank
started blowing off steam and
leaked like a sieve. We hope
there is no more.
April 20-0ct. 31
Is Trout Season
Few changes were made by
the Oregon state- game commis
sion Monday in the tentative
angling regulations .set at its
meeting two weeks ago.
The general trout season will
be from April 20 to October 31,
inclusive, except in Lake county
the open season will be from May
20 to October 31 and in Harney
county, May 4 to October 31.
The same bag limit as last year
will prevail, 15 fish or 15 pounds
and 1 fish a day, with the posses
sion limit 30 pounds and 2 fish.
Winter fiohing of trout ten
inches and over in length in the
coastal water will be stopped as
soon as the new order of the
commission
becomes
effective
about February 8.
Salmon and steelhead twenty
inches and over may be taken the
year around except in waters
which are closed or for which
specific seasons have been provid
ed. This applies also to jack sal
mon, stripped bass, shad, and
sturgeon. Spiny-rayed fish may
be taken the year around except
that in Klamath county the rea
son for black bass is closed dur
ing May and Jure.
To the list <f cl'std waters
previously announc'd, ' .e com
mission added Enni.i, Martin and
Goosecreeka, all tributaries of
the McKenzie River.
It was decided to lrave the
bag limit for East Lake m Des
chutes county the same as it was
last year, 10 fish, instead of
5 fish, as tentatively announced
before. The commission decided
to assign a biologist to study con
ditions at East and Paulina lakes,
and also one for Diamond lake
so that more adequate informa
tion can be obtained for future
management policies. It is also
planned to study conditions at
Owynee Reservoir before taking
action on the local recommenda
tion for an early trout season.
The complete angling regula
tions for 1 m 46 will be available
in printed form and in the hands
of license agents for distribution
shortly after March 1st.
GERM-FREE
FINISH
A new type of finish for wood
and other paintable surfaces
which would prevent the growth
of infectious bacteria snd fungi
and which will have a far reach
ing effect in improving health
is predicted as a laboratory de
velopment.
