Ratkie informs us that her son- in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Beck, are now at home in McLaughlin Heights, Vancouver. Bob, who has a job as dragline and shovel operator for the Mor­ rison-Knudson Co. of Fairbanks, Alaska, was transferred to Stev­ enson, Wn. by his company which necessitated his moving back to the states. Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Pearson of Elma, Wn. were recent week end visitors at the home of Mr. Pearson’s mother, Mrs. W. J. Lindsley. A goodly number of our res­ idents have taken in various amounts of pin-money the past ten days from the gathering of and selling of wild blackberries which grow in abundance here and are of an uncommonly good quality this year, Lt. and Mrs. James White of Lind, Wn. and the Lt’s, father, Bert White, of Iowa City, Iowa were last week visitors at the home of Jim’s uncle, Le-j White. The Lt. is on a 90-day sick leave from Madigan hospital, Ft. Lewis. Mr. and Mrs. Otto Carlson took the above mentioned group, Mrs, Margaret Bell and Mr. and Mrs. Lee White and children for a picnic at the beach on the 16th. The trip was greatly enjoyed by all.
