To Meet Sept. 7
The Women’s Missionary Soci­
ety of the Christian church will
meet on Friday evening, Septem­
ber 7, at the home of Mrs. L.
L. Wells in Riverview. Mrs. Clif-
ford Fowler will be leader of
the meeting.
The annual birthday party of
the Friendship club was held at
the park on the O-A hill Tuesday.
After the exchange of dainty and
useful gifts, the members drew
name slips to ascertain who gets
who a gift next year. New of­
ficers were also elected.
Members present were Mes-
dames A. L. Bassett, C. Biggs,
J. Biggs, H. Crume, C. E. Gib­
son, R. Mahar, W. Mathews, A.
E. Wood, W. Wilkerson, H. M.
Condit and P. Millis.
Mrs. W. T. Graves was hostess
at the meeting and a pot-luck
luncheon was served.

The Missionary Society of the
Evangelical church will hold its
September meeting on the com­
ing Wednesday evening, Septem­
ber 12 at the church. All mem­
bers and friends are urged to
come and bring their husbands.
The meeting begins at 8 p.m.

Davey Buell has been suffer­
ing the past week from a neck
injury received at the Rock
Creek swimming pool when he
dived from a tree limb just in
time to collide with a boy who
dived from a ladder. Coach Rob­
bins assisted him in getting out
of the pool. Davey was taken
to the doctor who found him
suffering from a slight concus­
sion. However, after a few hours
his mind cleared but part of
the afternoon is still a blank to
him.
