Mrs. Long entered her Boston Terrier in the Boston Terrier Club of Portland show at the Gresham Fair Sunday. The Boston won best female in the show. Cadet Nurse Here Cadet Nurse Etha Morris from the Multnomah hospital in Port land was here last week to vis it with her sister, Mrs. Idamao Ward. During this time she had her eyes tested, purchased new glasses, and is pleased with the results. • Those from here who attended a dinner given in honor of Pvt. Robert Wykoff at the Bacon home in Vernonia Sun. were the Pvt. and his wife and daughter, Laurel, and Mr. and Mrs. G. F. Crawford and children, Robt. is trying his hand at an O-A job this week. Pvt. and Mrs. Earl King of Camp Hood, Texas who late last week sent word to his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry King, that he would have no furlough at this time gave them a surprise Mon. morning when Earl called out from Portland. The King car was soon in Portland and Earl and wife were brought here for a real family reunion as his brother TSgt. Robert King who was due at Tinker Field that day obtained a 3-day extension on his furl^pgh time and his sister, Mrs. Harold Howard with her husband and son, Billie, of Sweet Home had arrived on Thurs. for a week’s visit here. The Pvt. has only an 11-day furlough after which he will report back to Camp Maxey and by the tim< this goes to press Sgt. Bob be on his way. Earl reports the training at Camp Hood been very strenuous and he and his buddies are ready for anything now. Dorothy Sasse, Lyle Walker and Mrs. Ross Wilkins and son motored to DeLake via McMinn- ville Sun. and enjoyed the ocean side drive through Tillamook and other ports on their return. Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Biggs are enjoying a visit from their son, Carl, his wife and daughter of Kelso, Wn. Portland goers this week were Mr. and Mrs. Herman Wood on Mon. and Mr. and Mrs. John Elder Tues. Mr. and A. H. Owing to the busy season now there were many members absent, Two new names were submitted for mem- bership and there were three vis- itors at the meeting. Mrs. L. Garlock’s birthday was celebrated and a beautiful cake was made by Mrs. Alma Garlock. Many were the gifts received, includ ing a lovely wool blanket from the circle.
