Here’s why: Naturally the needs of the armed forces must come first. That means that for three years almost all new equipment has been going to Uncle Sam for the operation of communications in the war zones. This tremendous drain on your telephone company is steadily in creasing due to the increased tempo of the war on all fronts. Equipment lost in battle must be replaced immediately, leaving tel ephone warehouses depleted of supplies for civilian use. Your telephone company asks your patience and understanding in this war-time emergency, and pledges the return to unlimited service as soon as conditions per mit.
