MAN HERE AND HEREAFTER
LIFE AFTER DEATH ASSURED
Part 8
When Job was about to die, he
said “Now shall I sleep in the
dust; and thou shalt seek me in
the morning, and I SHALL NOT
BE.” Job 7:41. His only hope of
living again, of escaping from the
bonds Of the grave, was the res
urrection from the dead. “If a
man die shall he live again? all
the days of my appointed time
will I wait, till my change come.
Thou shalt call and I will answer
Thee: Thou wilt have, a desire to
the work of thine hands.” Job
14,14,15. Where would he wait
until the Lord should call him?
He says, “If I wait, the grave is
mine house.” Job 17:12.
Jesus teaches the same thing,
saying: “The hour is coming, in
the which all that are in the
graves shall hear His voice, and
shall come forth; they that have
done good, unto the resurrection
of life; and they that have done
evil, unto the resurrection of
damnation.” John 5:28,29. Note
that Christ speaks of the dead as

being in the graves, and that
from them they are to “come
forth” in the resurrection day.
Man’s only hope of escape
from the grave is the resurrec
tion of tjie dead promised by the
Lord Jesus Christ. “For the Lord
Himself shall descend from heav
en with a shout, with the voice
of the Archangel, and with the
trump of God: and the dead in
Christ shall- rise first: then we
which are alive and remain shall
be caught up together with them
in the clouds to meet the Lord in
the air: and so shall we ever be
with the Lord,” and in no other
way.
The prophet Ezekial saw in
vision the resurrection of the
millions of dead who are buried
in the earth. The surface of the
ee-th nnnenred to him AS a srreat
valley full of dry bones, which,
at the Lord’s word, came to
gether, each bone to its corres
ponding bone. Then sinews, and
flesh and skin came upon the
bones, but there was no life in
these remade bodies. (Ezekial 37:
1,10.) Thereupon “breath came
into them, and they lived, and
stood upon their feet, an exceed
ing great army.” Verse 10.
The promise given in connec
tion with the vision was this: “O
my people, I will open your
graves, and cause you to "come
up out of your graves.” Part 8
