Mrs. CL L. Waddell is enjoy
ing a visit form her mother, Mrs.
Minkey, of Vancouver.
Mrs. Jack Dowd came up from
Jewell last Thurs. to attend the
meeting of the Mist Helping Cir
cle at the home of Mrs. C. L.
Waddell. A delicious dinner with
added potluck was served. Each
Pal brought a gift for her “Pal”
and new names were chosen for
the coming year. Our next meet
ing will be at the home of Mrs.
Alton Ashley, on the 4th Thurs.
Fred Siegenthaler is spending
a few weeks at home frem en
gineering duties.
These cold, frosty mornings
bring their troubles. Frozen
water pipes, frozen vegetables
and frozen cars cause our village
folks much discomfort.
Clyde Johnson went to Wash,
for a few days.
Mrs. John Libel spent several
days at Scappoose last week with
her daughter, Mrs. Ed Lindberg.
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Hughes had
the Rasmussen family as Sun.
guests.

cne of six girls chosen a few
days ago for membership in Al
pha Lamba Delta, a scholastic
honorary group for sophomore
women. Miss Laird enrolled at
Oregon State last year and pre
viously attended high school here
where she was consistently listed
on the honor roll.
Truck owners who received
application blanks for the first
quarter allotment of gasoline are
asked by the war price and ra
tioning board to return their
applications immediately. The
applications were for T rations.

The Mist Helping Circle’s an
nual Xmas dinner was well at
tended Sun. at the Mist gym. a
bountiful chicken dinner with all
the trimmings was served, after
which Christmas carols were sung
and a short but nice program
was given. Then Santa Claus
distributed the presents from
the tree. It was a happy gather
ing even if it was a cold day
It is something to look forward
to from one year, to another.
