UNGS
Levi quit his fat job in the
toll office the day Christ—the
Son of Man— stepped up with
Follow Me.
And why should Levi take up
with one so poor as the Son
of Man? Foxes have dens and
birds of the air have nests but
the Son of Man hath not the
where to lay his head. Surely
Christ had no riches to offer
Levi .Why then did Levi follow
Christ? And why have millions
of others since that hour, left
all to follow him? Why at the
cost of poverty, prison cell,
stoning and death, do men leave
all to follow Christ?
So Levi left all and out of
it we have the Gospel as by
Mathew-:—Levi’s other name—
Mathew. And Mathew in his Gos
pel is keen on records. Note
that he says how this and that,
too, took place with Christ, even
as the prophets of old had fore
told. To search the records was
his Gcd-given talent.
As of old, Christ still calls.
Follow Him to the cross of Cal
vary. Look up and see Him in
death as He pays in grief and
anguish for your unholy life.
Then follow on as they lay Him
in the temb. They lay Him away
as though He were common
flesh. But up from the grave He
a.’ose to stand at the right hand
of God and pour out blessings
on the sons of men.
In that He died. He died to
put away our sins. In that He
liveth, He liveth to the glory of
God, as he calls let us also fol
low on. As we yield our talent
over to Him, He pours out bles
sings. Through our yielded selves
Christ blesses this poor world
grown shabby through sin.
What talent do you offer Him?
Is it to sweep the floor to the
glory of God and to do the
housework? Or to patch the fen
ces and handle the dairy herd?
Maybe to teach School or to
work in an office—or at a pres
sing plant. Is it to call the
youngsters to a Week Day Bi
ble School? now spreading out
from America. Or are you one
of the two millions of Sunday
School officers and teachers? Or
is it tn break the bread of life
from the pulpit?
It is God who creates within
us the desire to do his gracious
will and who gives the power.
Yield your talent, glorify God,
pray constantly, and earn eternal
reward.
