This shrub spreads quite rapidly in the pastures and is a distinct det riment to pasture lands. It, how ever, can be controlled quite easily By burning, advise farmers who have tried it, as Scotch Brcom can not stand burning, states Geo. A. Nelson, county as^nt. Canary Grass Use Explained In the seeding of range lands, Reed Canary grass is a desirable grass to seed in swamps and lots and wet places along the streams, This is a grass that will stand flooding and will grow on quite wet ground, Geo. I While it is not very palatable to livestock, it is very desirable in early spring when other feeds have not started to grow—Reed Canary grass is one of the earli est grasses and cattle will eat it quite readily in late winter and early spring. It makes a desirable grass for carrying stock over the months of March and early April.
