6 Th • lay, February 24, 1944 Agent Urges Seeding Now The seeding of grass and clover on non-crop pasture pasture land or seeding on fall planted grain can be done to advantage during the month of February. This seeding can be done either on frozen ground or in the mud. The action of the weather in freezing and thawing the ground auto matically covers the seed, or, seeded in the mud, the rain will cover the seed. The following is a mixture rec ommended for hill land pasture: English . rye grass............ 41bs Orchard grass ................ 2 lbs Tall fescue ....................... 31bs Chewing’s fescue ............ 21bs Astoria bent grass ....... '4 lb Alsike clover ..................... lib White clover ....................... *4lb Total.............. 12‘¿lbs This mixture should be seeded at the rate of about ten pounds per acre. For low land pasture ladino clover should be included in the mixture as well as lotus major if the seed can be obtained. Lotus ¡3 an exellent legume and will grow on quite wet land. So-called "burn mixtures” should not be used. Most of these mixtures contain a certain quantity of cheap and useless seed, and it is a waste of money to seed them. The AAA payments are avail able for seeding pasture and range in price from 15 cents for some of the grasses and clovers to 45 cents for the higher priced seeds. In general the AAA pay ments equal about three-fourths of the cost of the seed. SPEED COLLECTIONS Waste paper collections can be speeded up if paper boxes are taken apart and flattened, wrapping paper is smoothed out and folded, newspapers are neat- . ly folded, magazines are properly bundled and brown bags are flattened and bundled. A schedule of amounts allowed for losses is given which is deter mined by the earnings of the workman at the time of the ac cident, his marital status and number of dependent children. Temporary total disability, per manent total' disability and per manent partial disability benefits are enumerated and awards for fatalities are listed. Resume Given A resume of the general pro visions of the workmans compen sation law is given in addition to information relative to occupa tional diseases as covered by the 1943 legislative enactments. Methods for filing an application for a rehearing are explained and information given relative to the procedure to be followed when a third party is involved in an accident which causes an injury to a workman of an employer covered by the workmens com pensation act. Her tene was very scornfull and her verse was very sad And it is so terribly shocking, the Yanks are so d— bad. We love our noble allies, we smile at their retreats, We scoff at their withdrawals, frown at their defeats. We send them ships and air- planes, they even steal our jeeps, And best of all we send them Yanks, to show them it’s for keeps. Oh take them back to ’Frisco, let them hear their mission bells. For despite the Japs and Tojo we can manage just as well. Please send us back, dear Aussie, where we’ll hear those mission bells, And let the Japs and Tojo run you through ten thousand h—s. Let them run right through the country, taking everything they want, With no one here but Aussies it would be a peaceful jaunt. Let Blarney and his boys take charge and run this bloody war, Withdraw, retreat as usual, Aus sies wouldn’t get so far.
