WAKE UP, VERNONIA!
k&pP***
k^*
OUR ENEMIES are treacherous and crafty. They like to strike
in the dark, to stab in the back.
Who ever dreamed the Japs would attack Pearl Harbor? Yet
Pearl Harbor WAS bombed—devastatingly! Singpore was “im
pregnable.” Yet Singapore fell. Hong Kong is in the hands of
the enemy, as are Guam, Wake, the Philippines, Java. . . .
The Jap is willing to make great sacrifices to launch a success
ful sneak raid on this area, with its enormous concentration of
military targets. YES, EVEN VERNONIA WOULD BE WORTH
THE JAPS’ WHILE! If he DOES try it— as many ranking mili
tary authorities honestly believe it is not only possible but prob
ably—he will find a warm welcome awaiting him . . . largely
due to the efficient, patriotic, unselfish service of thousands of
volunteer observers, tellers, plotters and others in the aircraft
warning service, an activity of the U. S. army.
