He is stationed in the Re placement Training Center at Fort Knox, Kentucky. Aldridge is a graduate of the local high school and attended Oregon State college. Harry Howell and his brother, tee Howell, of Portland and a party of others spent Sunday hunt ing on the Salmonberry. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Bodell and Sylvia Brady motored to Olympia, Washington, Sunday. Subterranean clover is one of the clovers that seems to have some possibilities in Columbia county as a forage and hay clover, both on the high lands and on the bottom lands. It is an annual crop. One of its characteristics is that it sends out runners with seed on near the ground and plants the seed itself, so to speak. It makes quite a satisfactory is high growth and is a clover that I in protein content. Subterranean clover is i a native of Australia where it ; is grown quite extensively. There are several varieties of this clover, but th" one that seems to be most adapted to conditions in Columbia county is the Mount Barker or Mid-Season strain.
