Shirley Cole, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Millard Cole now of Longview and formery of Vernonia, was awarded the American Legion Auxiliary award for being judged the outstanding eighth grade girl in the Longview schools. The pre sentation was made by Mrs. W. P. Baughman who is president of the 6th district of the Auxiliary. At the same time, Shirley was given an honor pin for the distinquisned service to the school from which she graduated. Attend Rose Festival— Mr». Faust Die»— Mrs. Effie Faust, well-known in Vernonia, passed away in Filer, Idaho, on June 6, word was re ceived here.
