SPANKING SCENE FULL OF REALISM— Although Brenda Joyce can boast that her role in Elsa Maxwell’s “Public Deb. No. 1” made her the most thoroughly spanked player in Hollywood, she would gladly have foregone the honor. During the filming of the new 20th Century-F-x picture which comes Saturday to the Joy Theatre, Brenda was spanked seven succes sive times by George Murphy who shares the romantic lead with her. For this hilarious sequence, Murphy was required to turn Brenda over his knee and paddle her—but hard. “BRIGHAM YOUNG” SPECTACULAR FILM— Announced as the great Amer ican motion picture, Darryl F. Zan- tick’s production of “Brigham Young,” by Louis Bromfield, has been acclaimed by previewers as one of the most spectacular and stirring pictures yet produced. Fcr the film, which comes Sunday to the Joy Theatre, the vast re sources of the 20th Century-Fox studios were marshalled. The brilli ant cast is headed by Tyrone Power, who is starred, while lovely Linda Darnell has the leading feminine role. Dean Jagger appears as Brig ham Young.
