It was announced that the club had been requested to have charge this year of the community chest drive, an annual activity. Mrs. J. W. Nichols reported on the books, “Books and You” by Somerset Maugham, and “How to Read a Book” by Mortimer Adler. In the former, Maugham declares that the test of a good literature is its readability. He includes in the small book a list of 75 uouks which he mentions as “good books”. In the second book as the title indicates one is told how to read a book—a good book; “it is a light book ubout heavy reading’. iMis. Wallace McCrae will enter­ tain the study clulb at the next meeting on October 24 at which time Mrs. Harry Sandon will re­ view “The American Presidency.” No-Name Bridge Club Meets— The No-Name bridge club met October 9 at the home of Mrs. John Grady. Members attending were: Mrs. Wallace McCrae, Mrs. Paul Gordon, Mrs. Ray Mills, Mrs. Tom Bateman, Mrs. Charles Wall, Mrs. Elben John and the hostess, Mrs. Grady. Mrs. Ray Mills held high score; Mrs. Paul Gordon held second high. Mrs. Mills will be hostess for the next meeting which will be held October 23.
